I had filled out the ds-160 since 2 weeks ago and it still shows up as no status. Is that normal? What does it mean? I had finished up the affidavit of support today and all that I’m waiting for is NVC to ship out my case to the embassy, but I don’t know how long that will take. I’m praying that the case gets shipped soon 🙏🏼

Why would you fill out DS-160 so soon? my understanding was to submit DS-160 only when the case is received by the embassy

It can be filled out any time once your case gets approved. As long as it gets filled out before the interview then you’re set

Thanks. So when does one select the date for interview? Is that done during submitting DS-160? I'm sorry for too many questions. The PDF that Greenbaum provided at the beginning of this thread is not very clear.

Does anyone know when to pay the visa fee? If it’s after filling the DS-160 form?

When we called the NVC to get our case and invoice number we were told not to do anything yet (pay fees, fill out forms etc.) because they all have an expiration date and our embassy is not processing K1's right now, meaning if we were to complete them too soon they might not be valid anymore by the time our case gets to the embassy.

It’s okay no problem. The interview date gets selected once the case gets received to the embassy

They didn’t tell me that. All they said was to complete the ds-160 anytime before the interview

Do keep in mind that after 30 days of not logging in to the DS160 form it will expire and disappear. all you have to do is log in and save again then it will stay another 30 days.  to the best of my knowledge, the ds160 once submitted has no expiration. in the case of the Philippines, you have to have the confirmation number in order to pay the visa application fee

Mr Greenbaum can you please supply me with the P3 for the Philippines?  Thanks

Anyone know what the purpose of the invoice number is?   when I went through the process I do not remember any mention of it.

We submitted and have the confirmation number. As to paying the visa fee, the embassy had stated its going to be paid over there in person before my fiancé’s interview

That is true.  You just need a case number and then it can be completed.  I would get it done so when your case arrives, it is one less thing to worry about.  But, when the visa fee gets paid using the ustraveldocs website, it is good for one year.  I paid already because Bangkok is processing K1s and I am not too worried about the year expiring.

Yeah I looked into that and our embassy wasn’t part of it. And then when I looked further into it, the embassy stated it should be paid in US dollars cash in person on the day of the interview. So looks like I did everything that I needed to do and just waiting for nvc to send out my case so then we can get an interview and get the medical done ASAP

Hello Everyone,

Our case status switched to "Ready" today and we received the email from the US Embassy in Kuwait! The only problem is they scheduled the interview for us on March 24th, but currently there is a travel ban in Kuwait. My fiance is flying back from visiting her family and has to quarantine in Dubai, however it is uncertain if she can enter Kuwait in time for the medical exam. Does anyone have any information about rescheduling an interview with the Embassy? At this time I am researching, sending an email to the Embassy, and calling the US Embassy when they open in Kuwait. I really hope they will just push back the appointment time. I wish you all the best of luck during these troubling times.
