Last year her my gf,  father was diagnosed pancreatic cancer and it was pretty bad, her and her older sister went to the Arbularyo (witch Doctor) and took the father and paid like 300 peso for healing.

I remember the tradition of the fruit, but I also remember that you need to shake a handful of change  at the stroke of midnight to represent a prosperous new year. I really enjoy learning their customs......

We went to both the Korean store and the Filipino store in the Triangle in order to get fruit and some Filipino stuff for tonight.

My wife doesn't follow the tradition, but some of her friends do.

 

To mess with them, she sent her friends a picture of a plate with 13 Skittles on it.

Never heard of that at all. But one of the hosts we gathered brought down $2k worth of $100 bills so the ladies all shook the bills for good luck at midnight
