Hello everyone,

Is there anything worng with this:

Getting married tomorrow 12/29

SSN office called today after we were waiting for a couple of weeks, said we have an appointment to get a new ssn 12/30.  This is under the assumption that we are not married yet.  I asked if there would be an issue if we got married before the appointment.  He said he has heard of instances where people had issues trying getting the card after being married.

We definitely will not have our marriage certificate to show them on the 30th anyways.  Is there any issue just getting the SSN with my fiance's maiden name, the name on her i94 and passport, even though we were married just the day before?

No issues.

Do we need  to wait until we get the SSN? In order to change last name( after getting  married; along with marriage certificate?)

how many days it takes to get it changed?

Thanks in advance

Change where? The moment you get married, you have a new legal name if you want to. Updating names on cards and other stuff is just bureaucracy. You can start using your new name as soon as you get married.

Name change on the SSN (if we had applied before marriage or before getting marriage certificate)

You can change as soon as you get your marriage certificate. You don't need to wait for EAD or GC. If the officer says you can't. Tell them to read their own Operations Manual (RM 10212.001).
