Trump complains that Melania has not featured on a single major magazine cover while First Lady - after Michelle Obama was a covergirl TWELVE times

It's not like we have a pandemic or anything going on. I'm glad the president has the time to focus on what is truly important: how many times Michelle Obama was on the cover of a fashion magazine.

President Donald Trump has taken time out of his Christmas Day to hit out at the nation’s glossy magazines for failing to give Melania Trump a cover while she was First Lady.

Michelle Obama, 56, appeared on a whopping 12 covers during her eight years in the White House while Melania, 50, has not appeared on a single cover through her husband’s four-year term.

The president on Friday night retweeted a comment from right-wing publication Breitbart that called out the ‘elitist snobs in the fashion press’ with Trump adding that Melania is ‘the greatest of all time’.

‘Fake News!’ he added.

Trump shared the tweet blasting the magazines despite not having yet commented on the bomb that exploded in Nashville on Friday morning or delivered an update on his stance on the COVID-19 economic relief bill.

But Melania was on the cover of Vogue pre-presidency with this unbelievably hideous wedding gown (can't believe it's Dior, but apparently it is -- the top is fine but that skirt is... ugh).

I don't think she's a nice person. My dislike of her is based on who she is, not who he is.

and what make you think she's not a nice person?  because who she is married to?

She's not exactly gone out of her way to alter that perception. From her "I really don't care do u?" jacket to "Who gives a goshdarnit about Christmas" remarks, doesn't seem like she really care what people think. Good for her. Frankly, I don't get what makes people think she's a nice person. Maybe it's her "be best" hobby that she's so invested in.

I prefer this cover, it's quite fitting; :D

I'll have to compile my list of all the things Daddy taught Hunter.  With the exception of the crack pipe, I think Hunter learned that on his own.

Thank you for posting, What a beautiful Woman. Far more beautiful and far more intelligent than the First Lady before her.

If your into Cougars, look for Dr. Jill Biden to be on the next cover of Vogue, or perhaps Sports illustrated sporting a 2 piece.... I know, I feel I want to vomit too.

Oh, okay. Michelle Obama, Esq. is less intelligent than Melania Trump.

Here are some good things I think about Melania Trump: I think she genuinely loves her son and puts his welfare above just about anything else. I think she is devoted to her parents and I don't doubt her sincerity in supporting anti-bullying measures. She has a fantastic colorist. Unlike others, I think the changes she made to the WH gardens were actually lovely.

I think her attitude towards the children in custody was appalling and cruel. Wearing that jacket was a big old middle finger about a matter of human dignity and the importance of family life. She has embraced birtherism. She hasn't denounced any of the appalling language her husband has used to describe women or the way he joked about grabbing women by the you know what. She knows she hit the jackpot so she isn't going to rock the boat. I get that. But that doesn't mean she is nice, and I don't have to like her.

I didn't like Michelle Obama at first, I won't lie about that. It took me a good couple of years for me to watch what she was doing and how she was using her office before she gained my respect.

For what it's worth, I hated Michelle Obama's wedding dress too. But it's one thing to judge a woman's fashion sense and quite another to judge her on her looks, as if her looks had anything to do with whether or not she's worthy of respect. (For that matter, a woman's fashion sense doesn't make her a good or bad person either, though it might say something about her taste.) It's crass to judge a woman on her looks and speaks much about the person making those comments.

what did she say about what children in custody?  the jacket, according to what i have found, was aimed at the media.  and she didn't wear the jacket when meeting with kids in texas.
since when is a woman supposed to denounce her husband's choice of words?  that doesn't sound like it would be good for the marriage.

I guess I am a different person than she is. If my husband said degrading things about women, I would call him out. I can tell the difference between when he's making a joke to ruffle my feathers and when he's saying things that he actually means. I did call him out once in front of others for saying something rude about a mutual friend's figure and told him it wasn't very nice. He was taken aback, but we didn't suffer as a couple. We disagree about some things (in particular capital punishment) and I am pretty vocal about why I think he is wrong, and he in turn is pretty open about why he thinks I'm wrong.

But we're only two private people, and our words don't have a lot of resonance outside of our marriage, our friends and our family. The President and First Lady's words do matter, and in my opinion a healthy marriage can weather disagreements as long as the basis of the marriage is still sound and your general life philosophies work well together. If she agrees with him that his words were acceptable, then there is no disagreement. In which case I still think she's not a nice person.

But it sort of doesn't matter, for the very same reason I just said: I'm just one person, and my words don't have much resonance outside of my little circle. I can have my opinion about her, and you can have yours, and they don't need to be the same. :)

Back to the actual topic though -- I happen to think it is kind of silly that Mrs. Trump was shut out of having covers on the basis of her politics as opposed to whether or not she would make a good cover model. There have been other controversial cover models, people who have killed people (Rebecca Gayheart, Caitlin Jenner). I hate the term with a PASSION but this is virtue signalling that signifies pretty much nothing.

well she is a model.

and one would think the left leaning fashion industry would be falling over themselves to have her on the cover, being she's the first lady who was not US born and does not speak english as her first language (she is supposedly fluent in 5 languages)

Totally agree with you on this one. I think it's kind of dumb -- she's newsworthy, she's a role model, and she's model model. BUT I don't think it was a topic more important than, say, the Nashville bombing or the stimulus bill. Trump can't help but be Trump, I get it, but it is still disappointing.
