I-94 Not Found

I’ve been trying to fill out the I-130 for my stepson but am hitting a roadblock on something seemingly simple. He has visited the US once before on a visitor visa but when I attempt to access his I-94 number online it says “not found.”  I have multiple times gone through and followed the instructions in the FAQs to try variations on his name and still nothing so I filled out the form for assistance twice now with no answer after 2 weeks. Can I just attach a copy of his visa and the passport stamps with an explanation to his I-130?

Do you mean that there's no entry in the I-94 Travel History?  Was the visit within the last 5 years?  If not, then the record of that visit will not be accessible online.

Is your son currently in the US?  If not, there's no need to provide information on his past US travel history on the I-130 form, aside from answering "Yes" to the question on whether he has ever been in the US.

Thanks so much for your reply.   Yes, there is no travel history when I was attempting to access his I-94.  His only past visit was about 2 years ago.  He is currently living with his mom in South Africa. I was under the assumption it was needed just because while filling out the I-130 online it gave me a warning that I should have filled in that section before continuing.

Strange that his travel history does not list visits from 2 years ago.  In any case, you don't need it for the I-130 since your son is not in the US.  You can leave the I-94 questions blank or do what we did and write "Not Applicable - Not in the US" to be super clear.
