Moh bought a one way ticket from Cairo to NY then NY to Detroit. He paid somewhere around 3800LE for it. He flew Egyptair.

Do Egyptians get a discount for Egypt Air?

This is a FAQ, the answer is which ever is less, the officer at the POE wont ask for or need to see a RT ticket, they know that an immigrant visa is comeing to the USA to stay, as well as the K-Visas.

FAQ:

4.10..I'm getting conflicting reports on what is required for a plane ticket to the U.S. I was told that you need to have a round trip ticket. Is that true?

A...This subject has been discussed in the newsgroup at great length. The plane ticket is irrelevant! Go for what ever fits your budget. (Note: this means it is not required to have a round trip ticket when entering on a K1 visa)

Just don't buy a RT ticket starting in the USA expecting to be able to use only the return leg. If the departing leg is not used the airline will cancel the return trip.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

I just asked him and he said, no. He said a foreigner would pay the same amount for the same ticket he got. On a side note....I had called around here to see what the prices were and the travel agent I called quoted me just about the same price for the same ticket. I called an agent that specializes in the Mid East. I believe it was a little higher but not too much. So you can buy a one way ticket from Egypt to the US from the US.

Right about the POE, but so,e SOs have had a difficult time getting on the plane at point of departure. You only need a one way ticket, but it is important to have the documentation of this when leaving Egypt. I called Lufthansa just to check their policy before Idir flew out. The visa and the "brown" evelope were sufficient proof that he did not need a return ticket.

We had a member here whose fiance tried to board his plane on a K-1 visa with only a one way and they turned him away and made him buy a round trip. I don't think a general FAQ is applicable here since I believe different rules apply to different countries.

The FAQ is right about the POE but some airlines want to see proof you do not need a return ticket. I think that's why this other person you are referring to had a problem. (I remember one in Egypt and one in Morocco) Call the airlines and ask for verification. Don't trust the travel agent, they do not know about visas.
