Hi all, I'm currently trying to reassure my wife that we can travel to the US. We just finished DCF with exceptional circumstances here in belgium. She has her visa and immigration package to give up at customs. She's still worried about the travel ban to the US. We fly on the 8th of January, but she's still worried about the ban being extended.

I travelled to the US for work in August and had no problems, and no covid test was required either. I met a few permanent residents in the line at border control, so I know it's not just US citizens they're letting in.

Even if the ban is extended, they won't turn away someone with a valid CR-1 , visa, will they? Anybody had a recent experience immigrating to the US from europe during the travel ban?

Thanks,

Caleb

Her CR1 visa should be enough proof that she is exempted from the Schengen area travel ban.  For extra peace of mind, bring a copy of your marriage certificate to present to the airline staff, in case you are unlucky and meet one who does not know that CR1 visas are for spouses of US citizens.  I think this is very unlikely, though.

Congrats on the visa and safe travels to you both!

Spouses of US citizens are exempt from the Schengen area travel ban.  However, I would check airline requirements for negative Covid test if traveling through/from the UK.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..
