We have sent a packet for Adjustment of Status for my wife and her daughters with the following forms:
For my wife:

  • I-485 Adjustment of Status ($1,140 form fee + $85 biometric fee = $1,225)
  • I-765 Employment Authorization ($0 fee as it was filed together with I-485)
  • I-131 Travel Document ($0 fee as it was filed together with I-485)

For 10 year old daughter:

  • I-485 Adjustment of Status ($750 form fee as filing with a parent)
  • I-131 Travel Document ($0 fee as it was filed together with I-485)

For 8 year old daughter:

  • I-485 Adjustment of Status ($750 form fee as filing with a parent)
  • I-131 Travel Document ($0 fee as it was filed together with I-485)

Included one form G-1450 with authorized payment for $2,725 ($1,225 for wife + $750 * 2 for children).
According to our calculations $2,725 is the correct amount. Yet all of the forms have been rejected with "The payment amount is incorrect, or has not been provided" reason.

Does anyone have an explanation why the whole packet got rejected?

Those are 3 separate cases, even if you sent them in 1 package.  Re-send everything but with 3 G-1450 forms.  Each case must have a form G-1450 placed on top, with each G-1450 listing the corresponding applicant's name and the correct payment amount.

@Chancy Thank you for your response! I am pretty sure I saw people posting they sent a single check for the whole family and everything worked so we did the same.

We will definitely include 3 G-1450 forms this time, one for every person:

For my wife: $1,225

For first child: $750

For second child: $750

Would you please confirm these are the correct amounts?

Thanks again!

3 payments, g1450 can’t combine many applications. The amounts are correct.

Since your package was rejected, take advantage of it and send 765 forms for the kids too. That's the only way they can get SSNs before the green card (tax season is coming).

what was the reason for the rejection ?  your total fee is correct.  but i think you can only combine the fee for immigrant visa  not for adjustment of status applications.

@Ayrton I-765 is "Application for Employment Authorization" form. Are you sure 8 and 10 year old children are eligible to file this form?

@igoyougoduke Exact reason stated: "The payment amount is incorrect, or has not been provided". Same reason for all the forms and all persons in our packet.

Yes. There's no age restrictions on the 765.

Yes those numbers are correct.

Also, make sure that the category code on the I-765s reads (c)(9)( ) (applicant for AOS under INA 245) rather than (a)(6)( ) (K-1/K-2 holder). We had people get their packets returned for incorrect fee due to this because A6 requires a fee and realistically should never be filed because even if USCIS does approve it in a reasonable amount of time that EAD can only be granted until the K-1/2 expires rather than a full year that a C9 would be granted for.

Contradictions without citations only make you look dumb.

@Lucky Cat What Eligibility Category should the children's forms have? (c)(9)(P) just as in my wife's form or just (c)(9)( )?

I am still trying to get my head wrapped around the idea of an Employment Authorization for kids (even though I understand the benefit of having an SSN). They can't possibly have a combo card saying they are authorized to be employed, or can they?

Use (C)(9)( ) for all of them.

Yes, they will have combo cards, which is also better than having a paper 131 for trips, and serve as ID. An authorization to work doesn't mean your kids are going to get a job at the age of 8 and 10. Having an EAD just means that they are aliens that are authorized to work compared to aliens that are not authorized to work.

Believe us. The kids are allowed to apply for it.
