Nope. If you're eligible you simply apply. Submit the info requested and that's it. Another waiting game will start 😂. You can do it all online, which I thought was very helpful and easy to do.

So they're not combining both applications? I can apply now but I'm worried that it might delay my ROC. I think I'll just wait

Very cool! USCIS normally pulls your ROC process and have the interview together with the N400. I think that is why the other user was surprised (me too); I'm no expert, but I would assume you just got lucky and your ROC case was concluded right before they decided to pull your case and merge with the N400.

Congrats and thanks for sharing your experience.

Yeah, I was assuming if they were going to approve the ROC without an interview now they will have to if I applied for n400. I am hesitant....I was thinking about waiting ROC gets approved.

They don't always do a combined interview. A friend of mine in Tennessee also got her ROC interview first. She already applied for her N400 and got a notification about her N400 interview but it was still separate for some reason. And I have never hear anyone here say it would delay your ROC if you file N400. Even before covid-19 almost everyone in VJ would say it would speed up your ROC, since they have to approve that before they can approve your N400. But hey to each their own. I did mine before dec 1st, just in case of an increase in price they were talking about.

Some people have definitely had their ROC delayed because of N400 and have been waiting for 2-3 years. But maybe USCIS has stopped combining the two applications?

I don't think they are, but I hope I'm wrong. My N400 window will open in July, and I'm one of the people who rather wait the ROC getting approved first.

@Orangesapples thanks for sharing this page.

Filed my I-751 - June 17, 2020

Case Transferred to National Benefit Center as part of standard processing (received I-797C plus case updated online) - Dec 30, 2020

Thanks for sharing this. You did not have a  biometrics appointment/waiver before the transfer, right? If so, I'm on the same boat.

Received our NOA letter today.

Appears to be the same as most others that were moved from the California Service Center to the National Benefits Center this month.

"We have completed a preliminary review of the application or petition ("your case") listed above. As part of standard processing we transferred your case to the USCIS office listed below that has jurisdiction over your case. That office will notify you in writing when they make a decision on your case or if they need additional information.

National Benefits Center, Lee's Summit, MO..."

We filed i751 petition in May 2020 assigned to CSC, fingerprints reused Oct 30th, and transferred Dec 22nd / 23rd .

Waiting to see what happens next.

We have the same timeline and I got my transfer of case letter today. Hopefully everything works out well

You have nothing to worry about. On the contrary, getting this letter is actually a good thing as it means that your case is moving.
