I have noticed a few posts with many replies about the Cenomar so I have some questions. Do they review all Cenomars? If they don't how do they choose who they check and don't check? Or do they check those that have been married before and don't check those that have never been married?

Thanks in advance.

Take Care,

Charlie

no they didnt review all the cenomars (just random checks). although for example if the beneficiary has a kid/s, that will also give them some reason why they will check it for themselves, or even if she dont have a kid for that matter that doesnt stop them to check it anyways. as for married beneficiaries, its good to bring cenomar/cemar with them and again if you get lucky, they will release the visa instantly. there's always that case to case basis "thing", depends on the CO, (part would that is how you answered during the interview, how complete are your docs, or with no reason at all, they just feel like it  ) but honestly its really hard to tell what's on their mind regarding with cenomar checks, im on k1 and they didnt call nso to check it, they just asked it from me during the interview, but they checked some of k1's for themselves. CR1-IR1 could take a longer process compared K visas but they dont have to worry for a thing once they get in to the US (for at least 2 yrs anyways). so the embassy could be cautious with them especially regarding cenomar/cemar etc...

Claudeth was told to not bother about the CENOMAR. She was told the embassy staff wouldn't use the one she provided and if one was needed the embassy would order it from the NSO themselves. If you are concerned I would suggest you call the embassy, things could have changed since Claudeth was there.

Manila Embassy doesn't need the cenomar at all. They knew already if you are married before or not....no one can lie about that manila embassy has direct contact or a liason officer to check NSO Office about the background of any filipino applying for a visa. But its good if you prepare your CENOMAR too.

]Bottomline is CENOMAR is easy to get and doesn't cost much why not just get it and concentrate on other things you may be lacking!

You can get them online also! Just took my friend a week to get one online!

He lives in Cotobato, Mindanao.

More ammo the better!

Charlie...

The USE staff randomly requests the CENOMAR. I'm not sure of the rhyme or reason for the madness. However, the CENOMAR is a requirement, per Packet 4. If the USE staff requests to see a copy and the beneficiary does not have it, that is grounds for an AR until that documentation is supplied (if the USE elects to do so).

Cheers!!!

Hi Sheriff,

MJ has her cenomar but I was more curious about that part of the process due to the other post. It seemed that many had a difference of opinion about not just needing them but why does the Embassy question one person but not the next.

Can't wait for this process to be over and August 3rd can't get here fast enough.

Take Care,

Charlie

Thanks everyone for your responses!!!

One reason is there are lots of fake CENOMARs as well as other documents in the Philippines.

One of the reasons is annulments are expensive and difficult for the average person to obtain.

Older people and people with kids are more likely to be suspected also.

As Sheriff said they may also just do random checks. No one really seems to know what they base their decisions on.

Being put on AR for CENOMAR does happen a LOT tho.

I'm also wondering what's the reason why some applicant's are put on AR because of Cenomar check. I have read about applicants who were older, unmarried and have children and got their visas just a few days after interview. And there are some who are single, young and never married and still were put on AR and wait months for the Cenomar check to be completed. I am thinking that maybe the USE already make background checks ( including the CENOMAR) even before the interview. There is a 2-3 months time from NOA2 to interview that the embassy has the applicant's files already and can do preliminary background checks before the inteview date. I don't think the USE will do the background check after the inteview just becasue they feel like it to put someone in random check. I think some applicant's preliminary checks are not yet completed by the time of the interview and so were put on AR to wait out the result of those checks. One reason I can think of is having a very common name and therefore would require more checks to verify. And applicants who don't have a name hit breeze through the backgound checks and get their visas right after the interview. Maybe there are other factors aside from having a very common name that makes the embassy put someone on a longer background check. So even if the applicant bring her own CENOMAR, if the USE hasn't completed their own background check yet by the time of the interview then the applicant is put in AR. Just my guess.

Will the US embassy going to do CENOMAR check for fiance/e only? What if the K-1 petitioner is a (Filipino) naturalized US citizen?

USEM (CO and pre-interviewers) are not consistent with what they do. As what others said, they may or may not opt to ask the CENOMR from the applicant and would just do their own NSO checks and this applies is for all applicants.

My friend who is on IR visa (interviewed just 8 days ahead of me) - was subjected to CENOMAR check after her interview and she was placed on AR for 9 days before they released her visa. She have her CENOMAR with her and was even voluntarily giving it to them but they said, they will do their own NSO checks.

With my case (CR visa), they did not asked for my CENOMAR nor did they do NSO checks after my interview. I was not placed on AR and received my visa in Laguna after 5 working days. But, I saw in my files (the folder thay are holding during my interview) that they already have a copy of my CENOMAR.

Another acquaintance (one on K-1 visa and the other on K-3 visa) were placed on AR because the CO asked them a copy of their CENOMAR and they don't have it that time.

It is always case-to-case basis. But if an applicant can get CENOMAR from NSO, then might as well prepare for it for their interview, just in case USEM will asks for it.

Just obtain a CENOMAR and bring it during the interview. Better to have it when asked.
