I just want to reiterate that if your NVC status says "ready", you can schedule your interview. Don't wait for instructions from the embassy because they arent sending them. In the k1 whatsapp group, someone has been ready since June waiting for instructions without realizing that she could schedule her interview.

We need people scheduling their interviews so the embassy asks for more cases. It's really disorganized but please spread the word if you know other people in the process to check their Nvc status.

I'm new here but I wanted to ask the question: Is there a ballpark estimate on how long it takes to get an interview scheduled following NVC approval? I'm trying to get a feel for how long it takes the Colombian embassy to do their part. I see there are estimates here but it's not Colombian specific: https://www.visajourney.com/times/k1-fiance-visa-historical/

Thanks!

Do you mean your noa2? Or do you mean after the Nvc sends your case to the embassy?

Apparently they are giving interviews for July 2020 NOA2 and they haven’t asked for any cases from the NVC in 2 months.

Hi, after NVC sends case to the embassy. However, maybe I'm not asking the right question. Using the the timeline here, I assumed it's taking an average of 102 days for the NVC to process it based on this: https://www.visajourney.com/times/k1-fiance-visa-historical/. If that's true, then I'm just trying to understand how long it takes the Colombian embassy to process these.

Once you receive your NOA2, it may be a year or more. The embassy must request cases from NVC and the embassy refuses to process cases at a reasonable level. NVC has no control of the process.

Even though supposedly they have been processing cases since about March (regarding the year estimate)?

Yes, unfortunately. They are moving very slow with no plan to address the backlog. The current administration is now punishing applicants who try to sue over delays by letting applications expire at NVC. Things are getting worse.

I’m going to try to move my case out of Bogota, as they have completely given up trying to resolve delays.

Wow, that's crazy. I've tried to understand what's going on but it doesn't make sense to me. Any ideas on why they are so reluctant to process these or why the delays are so bad?

Also, when they request the information from NVC, is it random or do they request a certain timeframe?

They blame Covid and say it is not safe. They still refuse to open for normal operations. However, all other government agencies are functioning normally now. The focus now is illegal immigration. They are processing illegals at the Mexican border at record pace with no fees or waiting times required.

They will process visa applications by dates on the NOA2 from what I understand. Just expect a wait of a year or more. Now that you can’t sue, I expect delays to increase.

Wow, that is just sad. And it's sad that there's no other way that I know of for my fiance to come to the US. It's too bad that Colombia isn't on the list of visa waiver countries either. Thankfully I can  visit her a few times per year. All we have are prayers and at least I know more of how to pray. I appreciate the honest response.

You’re welcome. I wish I had better news. I’m in the same boat.

Check your cases everyone. Not sure where you guys are hearing that the embassy isn't asking for cases but in the whatsapp group some folks with noa2s of Sept 2020 had their cases changed to in transit today. Seems like hopefully we are seeing some movement!

I just saw that too. So that's definitely good news. Thanks for the update!

It's actually very obvious they are refusing to process cases. Stating they are just now getting to Sept 2020 is evidence of this. I don't see this as process. I hate to be Debbie Downer :) .
