We had our interview yesterday and we were approved! It was pretty quick and easy. We arrived at about 7:10 am for our 7:45 appointment. We were leaving the embassy by 9 am. I did leave a full review on the consulate review page, hopefully this link will take you to it

My fiancé should be joining me in the US in just a few weeks 🥰

Congrats, happy for you. So those were the only questions you were asked? Did they want to deny people, or are they wanting to approve? I wonder how many people are getting denied. Did they ask you questions or did you have to do anything?

The agent was really nice. She didn’t ask me anything. I just stood next to Alejandro and held his hand while he spoke with her. I came super prepared and she didn’t ask for anything extra! I was glad to have all the extra stuff, just in case and we can carry some of it over to our adjustment of status.

We just received an email today saying his visa is ready, they only needed to confirm the pickup location. We already have a flight booked for Sunday 🥰

Did they stop services again? Ugh

That is still from before. They haven’t resumed routine services as far as I know although it seems like they are pretty close from other info they put out. But it seems no embassy wants to commit to “routine services” right now.

The embassy did put out a notice towards the end of February saying as of March 1st, they were resume routine services on a “limited basis.”

I am perplexed by this.  It was my understanding that the NVC is actually awaiting the embassy to request transfer for my case and then the NVC will either physically or electronically transfer all the case documents to the embassy for processing.  But the recent response from the embassy makes me question this.  They state:

The way this is written makes it sounds like they are just sitting there awaiting the NVC to send the documentation, but everything I've read on the NVC site says they are awaiting the Embassy.

Now I'm seriously confused.  I'm going to try and call the NVC today and see if I have any luck getting some clarification on this.

That’s a blanket statement. They gave me the same response. I spoke to the same agent at the NVC over the phone on three different occasions and we got to talking about all kinds of stuff. She confirmed that they are waiting for the embassy to request petitions before they can send any.

You're exactly right.  I responded to their email and asked for clarification and they just sent some template response... global pandemic.. blah blah blah.  If the company I work for used those excuses we would have been out of business months ago.  Must be nice to have the privilege of being government.

My representative wasn't able to help either as he said that he can't override the process of the NVC/Embassy.

Anyways, we aren't expecting to get an interview this year.  We are going to go forward and plan for our vacation this summer!

We have almost the same time line, I hope we both have our interviews this year.

I would assume that their cases were not at the embassy if the embassy stopped processing in march 2020 and these 2 ppl were documentarily qualified by the nvc in may 2020
