Could it be that the embassy is nearing the end of the backlog? I’ve heard that Bogota might start accepting cases from the NVC this month, but like every other rumor, I’ll believe it when I see it.

No, i dont believe it. Im part of the Facebook group and i havent heard of anyone with DQ may-now getting any interview dates.

i did check the non immigrant visa issuances by the bogota post. Over 300 B1/B2 visas issued in February. I just don’t understand what the heck they are doing and it’s frustrating

Bogota and Rio de Janeiro seem to be in very similar situations... very much hoping that this will change and they'll get to their family based visas soon!

We are trying to stay hopeful, but it is hard.  I wrote letters to all of the politicians that represent me and asked them for assistance.  I did get one who was going to see what they can do to help me.  In the meantime we are just trying to make it day to day.

We are planning a vacation together in June.  For a long time we held off because we thought an interview might be right around the corner.  We finally realized that at that rate 2021 will be over and then it would be 2 years since we have seen each other.

I feel that. My fiancé and I kept going back and forth on planning a trip. I did not want to fly to Colombia, then have to turn around and fly again in the chance that our interview got scheduled. We originally planned a trip for late March and I made sure everything I booked could be cancelled/changed.

I was just looking at your timeline. Hopefully you will be toward the front of the line when they begin taking cases again. 🥰

How did the interview go? I’m a bit anxious to hear.

I’ve done the same thing, zilch from anyone.

We had our interview yesterday and we were approved! It was pretty quick and easy. We arrived at about 7:10 am for our 7:45 appointment. We were leaving the embassy by 9 am. I did leave a full review on the consulate review page, hopefully this link will take you to it

My fiancé should be joining me in the US in just a few weeks 🥰

I am perplexed by this.  It was my understanding that the NVC is actually awaiting the embassy to request transfer for my case and then the NVC will either physically or electronically transfer all the case documents to the embassy for processing.  But the recent response from the embassy makes me question this.  They state:

Your case is not yet in Bogota. Unfortunately, the Immigrant Visa Unit is not able to take any action until your case is received at the Embassy in Bogota.

We suggest you to contact the National Visa Center in order to obtain further notice / information, if you require your case to be considered as Expedited, please request to the NVC directly.

The NVC will assess your request and will respond if your expedite request is approved / Denied.

The way this is written makes it sounds like they are just sitting there awaiting the NVC to send the documentation, but everything I've read on the NVC site says they are awaiting the Embassy.

Now I'm seriously confused.  I'm going to try and call the NVC today and see if I have any luck getting some clarification on this.

My interpretation is that this is the way governmental offices reply -- they don't want to say more than they have to.  I believe you are correct that the NVC is waiting on the Embassy to clear more cases before sending it on.  Have you called the NVC? If so, have you received your NVC/Embassy case number (it starts with BGT for Bogota)?  If so, this means your case has either been sent or is about to be sent to the Embassy.

Yes, I just checked CEAC and it does begin with BGT... I honestly don't remember what it was before.  This must be a good sign though!

Due to COVID-19 concerns, the U.S. Embassy or Consulate General in Bogota, Colombia suspended routine visa services. The National Visa Center will not forward K1/I-730 visa petitions to Bogota, Colombia until they resume routine visa services. The U.S. Embassy or Consulate General will resume visa services as soon as possible, but they cannot provide a specific date.

The above is the statement from the NVC.

Having BGT before it doesn't mean anything except that they got your case. Mine has BGT and it likely won't be sent for a long time. Based on your NVC receive date though you "should" be first in line when the Colombia embassy starts accepting them again however it remains to be seen how the are going to handle this. Everyone here assumes they will do it in some sane way but that is not guaranteed it might just be a free for all although I hope they do it in a sane way.

Did they stop services again? Ugh
