Is it okay to study and get money (for studying) as a K1 before getting the EAD or green card?

I'm still waiting for my visa to be issued (because of the travel ban) after having the K1 visa interview in Sweden on March 12th this year.

As you can imagine it's really hard to plan your life with everything being the way it is and not knowing when you can move, so I applied for some online university courses to take while I'm waiting and at least one of them I'd love to finish even if I'd move in the middle of everything.

So my question is if it's okay to study as a K1 before getting the EAD or green card?

I'd be studying at Swedish universities but it would all be online. It's not working, so I assume this would be okay? Right?

I'm also wondering if it would be okay for me to receive money because of this?

In Sweden you can get about $300 each month when you study at the university, and if you need more than that you can take a loan too. It'd stink to have to turn down the free money, but I'd gladly do it if I have to do so to abide by any rules as a K1.

Authorization is required for employment,  school is NOT employment

If you are able to get grants from your home country,  why would the US care?

That's what I thought too. 😇

I just wasn't sure if getting any income, even if it has absolutely nothing to do with having an actual job in the US, was okay. I just don't want to mess anything up. 😅

you are not yet in the US so the rules do not apply

at least they shouldn't till you get here

I know. But since I'm so far into the process, and also joined the K1 lawsuit recently, things could happen very quickly for me so I just felt better about looking it up now so I won't have to think about it later on. ☺️
