So I just casually check the status of my wife and kids visa status F2A, since I got curious if there were any changes, supposed to have interview on last March but got cancelled because of the lockdown. So low and behold, I saw a refused status... Am not sure if this was already in a different thread but can anyone shed me some light? Probably a technical glitch for those whose interview got cancelled?

All F2a is still suspended worldwide.  Changes may occur in January if we get a new administration

YMMV

F2A visa issuance is banned until end of this month, assuming the ban is not extended.  Until the ban is lifted, their visa status is likely to remain "Refused".

I got the same message when NVC sent my case to Manila. At first, it said at NVC, then it said it was at the embassy, and then before we even had the interview, it said Refused. I think for now, it's a catch-all phrase that just means you haven't been approved yet.

Looks like it’s an auto refusal due to your files at NVC not being touched for over 12 months....

I’d email NVC and have them reactivate the account given the circumstances and it’s their obligation to schedule your interview not yours.

AOS Journey

  • I-485 etc filed 23 April 2020
  • NOA1 I-485 June 3 2020

  • EAD approved 12 March 2021
  • Interview Completed 24 March 2021

  • Case under review 2 April 2021
  • New Card is Being Produced 25 September 2021

From OP's post, they already had interview schedules for last March but were cancelled.  That means the cases are already at the embassy, no longer at NVC.  No reason to contact NVC now.

"Refused" status is most likely due to the F2A visa issuance ban.
