Hi all, we received our approval notice from USCIS on Nov 11th, but haven’t got any email or mail from NVC.

We tried to contact NVC through the email address on the approval notice but received an automated reply that asked us to go to a website (Travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/ask-nvc.html). We filled out the form but still got nothing back from them.

It has been more than a month, I would like to ask is this normal? I saw many other who received approval around the same time as us but got email from NVC much earlier. I would appreciate any assistance. Thank you very much.

You won't hear from them until your file ships to YOUR consulate.  It was 30 to 60 days prepandemic.  They are wayyyyy backed up.  You can no longer compare your situation to anyone other than others who are transiting the same consulate

I see... and since China’s consulates are not processing k-1s, I guess we won’t get any notification soon. Thank you 🙏

Not consulates (plural).  Consulate (singular).  Guangzhou is the only one.

We reached out to the NVC and got a response back on 12/18/20 this is what it said

Dear Sir/Madam:

Due to COVID-19 concerns, the U.S. Embassy or Consulate General in [GUANGZHOU] suspended routine visa services. The National Visa Center will not forward K1 visa petitions to [GUANGZHOU] until they resume routine visa services. The U.S. Embassy or Consulate General will resume visa services as soon as possible, but they cannot provide a specific date.

For the most up-to-date information about the U.S. Embassy or Consulate General's operating status, please visit their website at <https://usembassy.gov>.

You will be notified once this case is forwarded to the assigned US Embassy/Consulate General.

It's rare that a file gets lost between USCIS and NVC. So, having said that and know that your file will not leave until China begins interviews again, it's time to sit back and pop your favorite beverage. It's going to be a long wait for China to begin.

Go to the blue ribbon above, select "forums" then scroll about three-fourths of the page down and select the region that most represents where your country is located.  That's where you can ask questions like the one you asked but you'll be among your peers. They have the "boots on the ground" knowledge.
