Salaams and hello everyone...

I'm new here and would like some advice on K-3 Visa and how to handle waiting so long. I was married in Cairo on January 8, 2006. I'm back here in the states now sending in the paperwork for the K-3. I've read the timelines on the site but would like to hear from others who have went through or are going through this process about how long it usually takes. Maybe I should have introduced myself first...I'm Kara from Michigan and my husband is Mohamed from Kafr Dawar, Egypt. I'm going crazy with worry about this whole process. I know how aggrevating it is just to get married in Egypt..what about having the interview and whatnot? Help!!!! :help:

Welcome Kara! I don't have any advice for you since I am filing a K-1 so I will leave that to our many knowledgable members that are filing k-3's. I am happy that you have joined us and I'm sure you will be added to our Cheerleading thread!

W'salaam and welcome Kara. My Mohammed is from Tanta, Egypt, and although we married "religiously" our visa is the K1 so I can't say much about time lines. I can say that really there's no need to work yourself up over everything now. Just be careful and thorough, and research things as you are doing. I have not been a member on Visa Journey for a long time, but I do know these ladies and gentlemen are all going through pretty much the same things, all at different points in the process, and their support and wisdom is invaluable. My Mohammed will be completing his interview (long story) tomorrow morning. Just remember to keep saying "enshaa Allah".

Ahlan wa Sahlan, Mrs. Z!

Just got the K-3 visa for my Ahmed, who is still in Cairo . .. but coming soon. You can look back at some of my posts . . . or IM me if you have any questions . . ..Maybe I can give you some answers, but I don't know, LOL!!! Everyone's experience seems to be a bit different, but I think we all experience stress while waiting on things to happen.

Let me just tell you this..when I read your little ticker tape thing and it said.."5 months since I've seen my habibi" I just broke down and cried! It's been two months since I've seen my husband. I just miss him so terribly that I have these moments and of course this one happened at work! Thank you for the welcome! (L)

Thank you for the welcome! Yes, inshallah is a word Mohamed and I frequently use! Inshallah everything will go well with your Mohammed and you'll be reunited soon. Waiting sucks!

Hi Kara, welcome to VJ, the ME/NA forum and especially to the Egypt crew :D

My DH, Tamer, is from el Mahalla el Kubra and arrived in the US on October 3. We went the K-1 route, and oh, the stories I have to tell about the Cairo embassy.

I sympathize with the long wait and the time apart. DH and I once went a year and a half without seeing each other! It sucks, but eventually, honestly, you get "used" to it. You don't need to enjoy it, but it just become a part of life.

It's a good thing you found VJ at the beginning of your journey. There's a lot of support offered here, and a wealth of information. Even if we don't know the specific answers, we can always be relied on for offering a sympathetic ear.

10/14/05 - married AbuS in the US lovehusband.gif

02/23/08 - Filed for removal of conditions.

Sometime in 2008 - Received 10 year GC. Almost done with USCIS for life inshaAllah! Huzzah!

12/07/08 - Adopted the fuzzy feline love of my life, my Squeaky baby th_catcrazy.gif

02/23/09 - Apply for citizenship

06/15/09 - Citizenship interview

07/15/09 - Citizenship ceremony. Alhamdulilah, the US now has another american muslim!

Kara, the bad news is that it doesnt get easier, the good news is that you have this website now. I can't tell you how much it has helped me tremendously! There are days when I want to crawl in a dark hole and never come out and then I force myself to come here and that always gets me in better spirits. Just being able to connect with people that are going through the same thing you are gives you another perspective.

Ok you know what? I lied, it does get easier. The first couple of months after I came back from Jordan were hell. When he opened his cam and I would see him and the family I would break down in tears everytime, it got so bad that he would call him mom to come yell at me for crying  But somehow, I found the strength and this website helped me so much. Make it a part of your daily routine to stop by and say hello. Others here have said that it was hard for them to see so many approvals while their case is pending. For me it's quite the opposite, I get so happy when someone gets approved or gets an interview.

I guess what I am trying to say is come here and vent vent vent when you need it!
