I should have been more precise. How could anyone get bent out of shape about it, "worked up" as cyberfx said? I somehow can't see a lefty watching this and shaking their fist impotently, biting out "Damn you, Crenshaw!" under their breath.

I'm not, I just think it's mildly amusing. :)

The reality is no one will get bent out of shape about it. But by talking about it or noticing it's ridiculousness at all will cause people on 'some other side' to cry "see they're getting worked up about it! haha you're so triggered!" regardless of the truth of the matter. Which honestly? Might be what he wants in the first place.

I think pointing out stupidity is never wasted. If someone wants to think I'm triggered when I point it out, it says more about them than me, so it's all good. Crenshaw is a tool and it's good when people call it out.

There is no shortage of nut jobs in the House of Representatives, you only have listen to Maxine Waters, Nancy Pelosi and Adam Shitt to find that out..  They know all about conspiracy theories because their masters at creating them, Russian Collusion and Ukraine anybody?  2 years of Russian collusion at a cost of $32 Million dollars to tax payers, all proven to be a LIE.. Think of all the homeless that could have helped and the hungry mouths it could have fed,  Do you think these heartless and power grabbing nut jobs from California who Represent the poorest districts care? of course not, all they care about is power and enriching themselves at the expense of all of us.

Russian collusion happened. Ukrainian "do me a favor" happened. If you're upset about the number of people who could have been fed on $32 million, you're gonna be really upset about the number of people who could have been fed with the billions from the Trump tax cuts for the rich. And if you're upset at the size of Maxine Waters' house, you're gonna be really upset when you see Trump's.

Trying to get around the language filter is a no no, btw.

So Maxine Waters lives in a house that's worth millions of dollars (I saw $6 million). Coincidentally, so do my parents (though theirs is more around the $1.5m mark), and they're not rolling in it. It's called "Southern California real estate" which if you're from Cypress, you surely understand. A home like that would be maybe half a million if it were in, say, Texas. But it's not, it's in LA (I know exactly where that house is -- Hancock Park is a great neighborhood), so it's worth $6 million. If she lived in a half million dollar home and represented a district in Dallas would there be an outcry? Of course not. The outrage is the point, as we're constantly being told on here.

There is a Report button.

As to the other thing, no one has as of yet explained to me how people in Congress make so much money on their government salaries and doing the work of the People?

Why report someone when you can just give them a friendly nudge? I've accidentally found myself circumventing the language filter (I have a potty mouth and forget sometimes). @Ban Hammer was nice enough to give me a nudge instead of taking action. We can be on opposite sides of an issue and still be civil.

People in congress make more than their government salaries because we don't have laws prohibiting them from taking money from other sources. Vote for people who would change that.

This is why I vote against incumbency.  Congress is not going to pass any laws to hurt their gravy train.  They should also have laws about hiring family members for campaigns, and setting up non-profits run by family, but that is not going to happen either.  DC is a swamp plain and simple, but people seem satisfied with this according to many and how they vote.

Passive income streams. Own real estate and have a robust investment strategy and be lucky enough to have been of an age when you could buy real estate on the cheap and keep making profits on it... that's one of the major ways. I don't have a job at the moment but my money is invested intelligently enough that I don't need to touch capital to live comfortably. I don't own a home at the moment in this country (I do own real estate in the UK, which again, revenue stream) but when I do buy, it will be mostly as a home. My parents paid very little relatively speaking for their home in 1990 (maybe $100k?) but hey look, now they're paper millionaires.

Yeah, all those "donations" to congressperson's various non-profits help too.  Plus I hear that China funnels some money to some select politicians.

I often vote against incumbency but I try to be smart about it. If someone I support has a track record of not accepting certain kinds of donations, I respect that. The problem is that the politicians who do that are at a distinct disadvantage against politicians who have no such scruples. So until we get some real campaign finance reform going, voting against incumbents helps but much more can be done.

Like I said, I don’t see Congress doing anything in any form even when a few new members come in.  The best options is to impose Term Limits through a Constitutional Amendment, but short of a state initiated constitutional convention, that won’t happen either.  I am fine with getting money out of politics, but unfortunately I think that snowball has grown too big, and even if they tried to do something, they would do whatever they could to protect their slice of the world.
