Good afternoon everyone.

Sorry in advance if this is the incorrect forum for this question, maybe someone can direct me to the right place.

I am trying to help my cousin figure out where his case status is at.

He entered the US undocumented, and has since married a US Citizen. They filed an application to have his wife petition a Permanent Resident Card several years go, and were given a LIN case number. Has of December 2018, his LIN case status is: "Case was sent to the Department of State."

After this step, his attorney filed an I-601 waiver, and it has already been APPROVED this year. After the I-601 was approved, his attorney filed the last paperwork to send to USCIS, and on July 28 2020, my cousin received and email with the image on the attachment on this post.

That email basically says that the next and last step is to wait for the consulate interview in Ciudad Juarez... but we have no idea how long the wait is. The email has a CDJ Case ID, but when we enter that number into the USCIS Case Status website, it says the number is invalid. Is there a different number that we should be looking at to get an estimated time to interview? Again, we received this email on July 28th 2020.

ARE they even conducting any interviews in Ciudad Juarez right now?

Okay, so... the email your cousin received means that his case is currently at the National Visa Center and his case closed on 07/28/2020. Also, you are correct, at this point your cousin just needs to wait for his appointment at CDJ.

Here is the bad news though, the wait for an interview at CDJ  is looooong! They are currently assigning appointment interviews for cases closed in March/April 2019.

I've been waiting for an interview since November 2019.

NOTE: As I mentioned before, his case is no longer with the USCIS. His case is now with the NVC. If he wants to check the case status he needs to check on the NVC website, not USCIS:

Good luck!

Thank you for your help!!!

Thanks to the info you gave me, we went to the NVC website to checked his status using the CDJ number. When I submit, the result I get is "At NVC".  Is this normal?
Also, is there a place where we can check the current processing time? I know you mentioned that they are currently reviewing applications from March/April of 2019, but how can I continue to check that date to see as we get closer to my cousin's date of July 28th 2020?

Yes, this is normal. It will stay "At NVC" until CDJ says they have an appointment available for your cousin.

No really, the timeline is simply based on what people have been saying in this forum. Just keep asking from time to time, or follow other members with a similar "case closed" date.

As I said before,  the wait time is long. Before the pandemic, the wait time was 10-12 months, it is now more like 18-24 months.
