All that "Hi Guy's let me tell you" chatter on U tube makes you believe that you need to write a novel about your relationship when in fact you do not.  If you have conducted your personal visit you have pretty much satisfied the requirement.   I say that because our 129f packet was over 280 pages and represented a big waste of time  both for us and the person who would review it.  Listen to what you hear on this site from those old guard folks, they do know what they are talking about.

Given that they spend around 15 or 20 minutes approving each petition, no need to send more than what’s required unless you want to have it on file to “get ahead of the game” with the consulate if you are dealing with a high-fraud one.

Note that you will be submitting evidence of your relationship. There is no such thing as “proof” when it comes to a relationship as it’s not possible to read your mind.

The petition is only concerned with ensuring the following are the case:

- the petitioner is a USC

- the two people have met in person at some point in the previous 2 years

- the two people are legally free to marry each other (all previous marriages have been terminated legally by death, annulment or divorce; they are old enough to marry and are not related to each other in such a way that marriage would be illegal)

- the two people have stated in writing that they intend to marry within 90 days of the immigrant’s arrival into the USA

Everything else is unnecessary for USCIS. Save the love story for something to tell your grandchildren one day.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

The file we sent for our I-129F was 1.6Kg.

we got approved (NOA2) in 5 months (the pandemic hit 1.5 months after we sent our application.

Mine was 12 ounces.  Quality is more important than quantity.  Can't even imagine what else i would have incuded that would weigh another 2 pounds.

YMMV

Is it just me or is the concept of weighing the packets really weird?

Ours was 50 pages, regular A4 size. 10 of those pages were the full contract of lease to prove we lived together.

It seems odd (overkill really) if you have to measure the packet by weight, unless dealing with a high-fraud consulate.

I said "I" not them.  I didn't send pics, why would I send chats? :)

The senior members on VJ who have been around a long time and know this process always stress quality over quantity. You want to give the Immigration people making decisions about your future clear and concise evidence that you have met the basic requirements of the K1 program. We use evidence to substantiate our claims.

Here's what I submitted in addition to the application:

Passport scans showing us not only meeting, but also traveling together to multiple countries together.

Airline & train tickets showing both of our names, the dates, and the locations. (In China you can't get the train ticket without showing the passport)

A photo from each place we visited to back up the passport scans and tickets.

This is clear, concise evidence that we met the meeting requirement. I received no RFE. My situation was different than yours (I lived in Cambodia for over a year) but the point is that immigration lays out some clear guidelines and it's your job to prove you met those guidelines. When you file a petition, you are claiming that you qualify for the program. Give them a few pieces of high-quality, irrefutable evidence (passport stamps, boarding passes) to support your claim. Unless you are dealing with a high-fraud embassy (easy to determine by reading this site or asking), there's no need to overload an already-overloaded Immigration employee who probably won't even look at your chat screenshots anyway. If you make it to interview, then you need to be prepared to once again back up your claim and demonstrate that you're who and what you claimed to be, namely genuine about bringing your fiance to the US and marrying him/her.

As many others have said, quality - not quantity - is key here. Easily-fabricated evidence (chat logs, video call screenshots, pictures, etc.) carry very little weight. Indisputable, official evidence (like passport stamps and boarding passes) is the quality evidence they are looking for.

Hello all.  I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe.

My fiancee and I are finishing up our K1 Visa application, and we have a lot of documents especially for proof of relationship.

How much maximum weight will the US Government allow for the K1 Visa application.

Thank you,

CeboMap
