dupe

  (do͞op, dyo͞op)

n.
A person who is easily deceived or is used to carry out the designs of another.
tr.v. duped, dup·ing, dupes
To deceive (an unwary person). See Synonyms at deceive.

Has NOTHING to do with one's intelligence level.  Even smart people can be duped.  Heck, there are millions of Americans who were duped into believing Biden had more votes than Obama & Trump.

Let's get off the "dupe" issue, please.  Final in-thread warning.

"Duped" implies a degree of ignorance or stupidity on the part of the person who it's describing. It's not a polite word, frankly. We can disagree without insulting each other's intelligence. A polite way (which would still match your meaning) might be:

We have -- I'm certain -- done our own reading and had our own discussions with people with greater knowledge than we do about the topic and come to very different conclusions. I don't agree with yours, and you don't agree with mine. I'm not sure why you decided to pull me into this all of a sudden when I have pointedly not engaged with you about anything COVID-related for quite a while. I will give you the benefit of the doubt and assume it's because you wanted my viewpoint, but you already know mine. It hasn't changed. Nor has yours. That's okay.

I agree with you that it has been politicized and is being used to control people, but probably not in the way you think it has been. That's okay that we disagree on that, too.

On a lighter note, everyone should watch the Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix. It is fire.

I've watched a couple of episodes (okay, I watched one and fell asleep 3/4 way through the second) and it's very good!

It gets better. Best thing I have seen in a long time other than Yellowstone and Mayans. Would guess you are not a Mayans girl.

Nope. Definitely not my thing. Next things up on the watchlist are: Umbrella Academy (Season 3); finally finish this season of The Witcher; this season of Stranger Things; The Chair (halfway through, very good); and, um, Emily in Paris.

Emily in Paris was actually pretty good.  And Stranger Things.  But I had to drop Netflix due to my convictions about young girls and Cuties, even though I was (legitimately) getting it for free.
