Hi everyone, please i need advice, I am a student in the US on an expired F1 but valid I-20, i got married to my fiance and filed for AOS in September 2020. because of the financial difficulties during this covid period, its been hard on my husband and I. I don't think we will be able to afford my next semester tuition. please will this affect me legally in anyway as i dont know what happens to my I-20 once i decide not to attend the next semester despite the fact i have filed for AOS.

After your status ends you won't have status but you'll be in a period of stay authorized by the Secretary of Homeland Security while I-485 is pending.

okay is this important i inform my school counsellor that i won't be able to afford the next semester tuition. as to keep them up to date. and will that automatically terminate my I-20 form ?

It's your decision to inform them.

Also look into in-state tuition as it is much lower than the international rate. In-state tuition policies vary per school but you could try asking with your I-485 receipt notice.
