Hi,

this paperwork sometimes gets the best of me...

QUESTION: If I prepare the Affidavit of Support for my USC spouse to read and sign, should I then sign as a preparer?

I mean, I am not a company or paid preparer and who would know the difference... But, on the other hand, it was not him filling it. He is just really bad about paperwork and busy these days working 12 hour days. I don't trust him on doing it exactly right

Would it look bad if I sign as preparer? :help:

Another question: what is current annual income required to report on I-864? Is it his current (new job since April 2007) salary or is it his last year's salary? I would be tempted to use our 2006 Tax return Annual Gross Income, but it was a joint return and there was my income too. I can not prove that my 2006 income would continue, because it is over - I moved to France... so it gets complex...

Thank you!!!

Rika

As far as signing on as preparing the documents I have two things. In Kiev when we went for her interview the woman asked me if I prepared the documents, I said yes and she had me sign on at that time. I did not raise any issues. When we did the AOS, I signed on from the start and there wasn't even a question about it. I almost seems as if they know that the USC is going to do the paperwork or at least have a part in preparing it. As far as you second question, I don't know what to tell you. Maybe someone else with similar experience will post later. Good luck on your continued journey. :)

No longer in the hands of the USCIS, for my wife at least, next up MIL.

rika,

If you prepared the formon behalf of your spouse then you should indicate that you prepared the form, regardless of how "it looks".

I 864 asks for both current income and the last three year's reported income. Put the appropriate information in the appropriate place.

Thank you Yodrak...

Now I see what you mean about income... current income and previous from previous tax years. Hence he should submit paystubs and transcripts as respective evidence.

Damn, now I'll have to sign and mail actual form to him... good it only takes 7-10 days!
