Hi :)

So my husband lost his job this year. He was my sponsor however now he will be unable to.

We just got our interview date so have asked his Grandma to sponsor me which she is more than happy to do.

Since she is my new sponsor she would need to provide the I-864 and evidence correct?
Would my husband need to provide an updated I-864 since when we applied for AOS he was my sponsor or just say at the interview that it has changed and she is now the sponsor?

Thank you in advance :)

As your petitioner, your husband will always be your primary sponsor, whether he has a job or not.  Your grandma is joint sponsor and will need to provide an I-864 plus required evidence.  Also prepare an updated I-864 from your husband, in case the USCIS interviewer asks for it (which is likely).

So we should provide an updated i-864 for him. Would we need anything else like his unemployment checks? Or would the form be enough you think?

If he remains unemployed at the time of the interview, just prepare an updated I-864 listing 0 current income.  Unemployment checks are not required for the I-864.  They don't count towards qualifying income anyway as unemployment benefits are not meant to be long-term.

Hey

So we have a joint sponsor now which is great but for our AOS interview we need to provide an updated i-864 for my husband.

He's been unemployed recently due to covid, would i put how much unemployment he's received as annual income? Or just put that as $0? I was also going to include his unemployment summary and a short letter with the date and reason for unemployment.

I answered this in your other thread.  If your husband remains unemployed at the time of the interview, list $0 as current annual income.  Unemployment checks don't count.  No need to explain the reason for unemployment.
