Here are the links for a couple of Yahoo groups of expats living in the Philippines. The first is specifically for Cagayan on Mindanao:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Expats-in-Cagayan-de-Oro/

This one is more general:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Philippine_L...sland_Paradise/

You should be able to gleen a lot of information from these two groups.

A friend if mine has been living on Mindanao for the past four years and has been living like a king on his disability income. He have a very nice house with two live-in maids and was driving a new truck but ended up selling it because he wasn't using it enough.

Good luck

You are welcome, those groups should be a great help for you. If you ever get down to Cagayan you will have to look us up, we will be attending the expats get-together every Wednesday at Over The Top!

Yea, my wife is from CDO and my really good friend is living there. We just helped her parents set up a little store in Bayabas and will probably build a house somewhere around that area once I retire. I really love CDO and enjoyed Iligan too but Claudeth thinks it is more dangerous for a kano there. There still is about 7000 islands I haven't visited yet so we have lots to do! :D
