As someone that has lost people and has seen people suffer from this virus this meme neither makes any sense... and is downright insulting. There are many diseases and illnesses that one must be tested to know for sure what it is - that includes cancer, diabetes, heart disease, HIV and many more.. so what exactly is the point of the meme here? No one is being threatened to take a vaccine.

The ingredients btw, can be found, as well as clear descriptions of their purpose. In terms of vaccines, I'd say it is not only a remarkable development for science in the way it works, but has far less problematic substances inside of it than others. Why some persons are reacting is not exactly known, but this can happen to all sorts of vaccinations. There are perhaps two potential ingredients that may have the rare potential for reaction, and that may be what we're seeing here. The majority will have no reaction. That does not mean an individual may not have an immune response that is appropriate for the vaccination to work in the body.

OK, why are members of Congress (all of them) getting the vaccine ahead of others that may need it more?  Shouldn't they get it according to their individual vulnerability?  Btw, this goes for Pence as well.

COVID-19 vaccine starts rolling out to members of Congress

I've seen a few people claim they are doing it to promote and encourage others to get the vaccine. I think that line would work better if they did it once the vaccines are widely available. Most of the people who want it still don't have access. Encourage people to get something they can't actually get is not going to be a well received message.

I also think this is where you see how much of the reaction has been rhetoric, when you see politicians who have minimized the seriousness of Covid all along now suddenly show that they are just as scared/concerned about getting it as everyone else.

I still think staff and residents at nursing homes should have been the very first group.

I completely agree with this.  The one thing that has been common since the first major identified outbreak in the US is the vulnerability of the folks living and working in the care facilities along with the healthcare workers.

As to Congress doing this for encouragement, I am sure that is what they will say, but the hypocrisy is quite rampant, and I agree, encouraging people to get something that is not widely available is very disconcerting.

I don't entirely have a problem with officials receiving a vaccine. The majority of them fit into the category of elderly with pre-existing conditions. Like many things in America, most of us don't have protective details, special status, or rules that our officials live by. Yes, many will look upon it scornfully, and it's understandable. What I like about the UK is that they have been giving this out to the elderly, and not just those in care homes. The US did not take this planned position. There was reported to be a divide in the administration about the best way to go about this approach - with some wanting to follow the UK example and others not. Some were bordering close to downright eugenics, if comments were to be believed.

The biggest problem I'm seeing right now... and perhaps it's the one criticism I've always had since this began, is lack of direction. The states say we are having a reduction of promised vials being sent (shipments going out even had too many vials and no direction on it so vials were being chucked out!). The administration blames Pfizer, but Pfizer is adamantly claiming they have tons of vials sitting in storage and not being directed where to put them. This is where I get a bit annoyed at everyone involved - lack of coordination and direction is an important screwup, but cannot Pfizer reach out to the states and vice versa and the administration's direction (or lack of it) be damned? You know... ethics.. humanitarianism? People dying here.. guys.

(Reuters) - Media baron Rupert Murdoch received a dose of the COVID-19 vaccine this week, a day before prominent opinion host Fox News’s Tucker Carlson raised suspicion over the marketing strategy for the vaccine.

The 89-year-old executive chairman of Wall Street Journal owner News Corp and chairman of Fox News’s Fox Corp received the vaccine at his local doctor’s office in Britain on Wednesday after being told he was eligible, a spokeswoman confirmed on Friday.

On Thursday evening, Carlson, host of “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” one of the highest rated shows on U.S. cable news, opened his show highlighting the case of a health worker in Alaska who suffered an adverse reaction to the vaccine and warned viewers to be skeptical of the “glitzy” public campaign

First, the Trump admin has to pick up the vaccine that is waiting on the docks of Pfizer. 40% cuts.
