Father in law sponsors. Does my wife need to sponsor me financially, too?

Hi,

My wife and I are uploading documents to the NVC portal.

I'm Italian, she's American. We are living together in the Netherlands, we are married and we have a 1-year old baby.

We are planning to move to America together.

My father-in-law lives in America and he filled the affidavit of support for me to be my sponsor.

Does my wife need to be my sponsor, too?

Thanks

As your petitioner, your wife is your primary sponsor.  She will need to submit an I-864 even if she has 0 US-based income.

Yes, she does.  Your father in law should check the box indicating he is the only joint sponsor.  If he's married, his wife should act as household member completing I-864a, even if she has no income and/or her income is not needed to qualify.
