leaving country for an emergency

i just checked uscis.com and it says my wife's green card (temporary resident card) had been sent on june 20th and to plz allow 30 days to recieve it. she came here on a k1 fiance visa but her father is very sick and they said he has poss a couple days to a couple weeks to live (he's in south korea) and i'm just wondering if there's anyway she could leave country b4 we get the green card -can we call uscis about it ??

will we have to start the whole process over if she lives the us b4 getting her green card (we are now married so i'm guessing if we did it would be the marriage visa) ?

my mother also had a friend that married a chinese national and they screwed something up and his wife was "banned" from the us for 10 years so i'm kinda worried about that 2

could someone plz advise me on what options i have here???

Make an infopass appointment and ask for I-551 stamp in her passport.... take evidence of the emergency with you... a letter or fax from the hospital or doctor will help...

The I-551 stamp is a temp grencard and is good for travel....

If the card has already been mailed and you are at home to receive it, take a photocopy then courier the original to your wife before she returns to the US. The issue date will be prior to the exit date so it shouldn't pose a problem. It may be unnecessary worry, though, as it could arrive before your wife even leaves.

However..... if you are a worrier.... make the InfoPass appointment and set your mind at rest.

She can certainly leave, and she should be able to get back in even if she hasn't yet received her green card. See post #3 in this thread:

Unless the case status posting on the USCIS web site is in error, your wife is now an LPR and she must be allowed to physically enter the USA absent a criminal conviction or security interest, even if she doesn't have her green card with her.

Don't know how she's going to get on a plane out of South Korea, though. The airline people will want to see some ID or documentation that makes them feel comfortable that she will be granted entry so that they don't have to worry about flying her back to South Korea at the airline's expense. CBP officers should know that they have to let her in, airline staff may not be so knowledgeable.
