Yes but she is moving.

 

Adding: so in the future there is a record of her noting that she will be out of the country but by no fault of her own, only reason is to be with her husband is why she was not in the US. If she brings the evidence that will force a record of it. So in the future if any legal issues arise there is a very clear records she did not 

abandon her residency.

Well like most of the other members suggested you should attend your interview and then figure out a way to get the green card to you.

in some rare cases CBP can let you in even after 18 months ,or else you can always apply re entry permit to come back to USA.

In case you decide not to attend the interview,you will not be able to enter USA without starting the whole IR/CR1 process again and even then who knows you might not be able to get new visa in 18 months as timeframe varies from person to person,country to country,even for consulates.

you will not like to be stranded without your husband in case he have to come back to USA after 18 months and your process is not complete.

I agree with those saying stay temporarily and attend the interview, await the GC and apply for a re-entry permit to be delivered to the consulate where you will eventually be staying.  The alternative of abandoning the AOS and then filing for the IR1 may not meet your timeline for when your husband's contract expires.

Re-entry permit is the best option, imo......or you can just start all over with a spousal interview.  Your choice.
