Does Cairo always respond to emails or do they sometimes do nothing if you send them one? If they do respond how long do they take? I was hoping to see a response when I logged in this morning but nada.

Me too. Thanks God we've got the AC at home now, so I only have to walk about 2 minutes at a time outside. Home to car, car to office, office to car, car to home. I might melt otherwise.

Although our AC isn't working all that great, I think we need to upgrade, but it's a whole lot better than nothing for now!

Happy hump day!

This heat is killin' me! Thank God it's supposed to be in the 70's tomorrow. Guess I'll hit the pool again this evening. My husband has a problem with A/C...he doesn't like it. I come home and the windows are open and the thermostat is set at 90. So when I get home and kick the air back on it takes an hour to cool down the apt. :bonk:

Doodle, Cairo is confusing as you know. Sometimes they answer within a day and sometimes it takes a week. The first time I emailed them I had a response waiting for me the next morning. The last time I emailed them it took a week for them to respond. By the time they responded my husband had his visa already and I didn't care whether they responded or not. Of course it was an asinine response....this case is pending admin. processing.

It takes usually 5 days or less for the to respond to you. They have always responded to me except for this last time i emailed them last Thursday and they never responded back yet and they probably won't. But there again you know how that goes with Cairo nothing suprises me really! I hope everyone has a wonderful day! Doodle Congrats to your husband on getting packet 3 in the mail!

I want to thank you guys for suck up the heat up north. Houston has been unsually cool...well for Houston. My son called me yesterday from Penn to complain about the heat- it was 85. Hottest day yet this summer.

I had been growing my hair out, but yesterday it all came off. I feels and looks great, but I keep wondering where all the hair is.

Oh Moh must feel cozy and right at home with this heat!!!:lol::lol:

Usama knows in depth my hatred for heat. He told me last night that he found flat prospect #3 from a friend......ocean view, one bedroom, brand new kitchen, etc. only a few steps from the beach...............but no a/c. He promptly said no thank you. I was so proud. :luv: He said his friend was like "but you are right on the ocean...why do you need a/c???" I'm like, honey *I* live all of a two minute walk from the beach and right now all of my windows are closed, I've had my three window a/c's cranking for three days and I'm *still* hot!!!! :hehe:

Egyptians don't seem to sweat like we do. Last summer when I was there, guess who was the only one sweating to death? Everyone joked with me about how I was always "melting". Moh's family owns one small oscillating fan that followed me from room to room. Surprisingly I slept extremely well while I was there. Here I toss and turn when I'm too hot.

About Alex...

There's a nice breeze off the sea esp. at night but the heat of the day is still there although it doesn't get any hotter than it does here. I checked the weather for Kafr Dawar/Alex yesterday and it was the same temp here as there. The nice thing about Alex is that it does cool off nicely at night. Not like here. The problem about being in Egypt as opposed to here is...there I cover, here I wear short sleeves and capri pants so the heat is a bit more tolerable.

Well I don't wear short sleeves here but I do wear capri pants. I'm wicked short so they come to about ankle length so I'm planning on bringing them with me. I have about four long skirts that I'll bring too just in case the capris don't work out. The shirts I wear here are super thin cotton. I mean super thin. I bought a few from Shukr recently and had to return them since, even though they advertised them as "light cotton" they sure as heck weren't light enough for me!!! I have to wear long sleeves anyways just to protect against the sun since the sun tends to give me flare ups.

I imagine we'll keep the same schedule as the last time and go to bed at fajr and wake up at maghrib. If we do that 1) I won't be as jet lagged and 2) the heat won't bother me too too much.

Hicham is the same way about the A/C. We've always had ceiling fans in the house and keep windows open. I grew up in Charleston, SC, so I'm used to the heat and it doesn't bother me to much. My dad would always come over to the house in the summer and cuss us for having it so hot. He would make us turn on the A/C. It was pretty funny. I do have to say that even in July and August, Hicham would break down and agree that the A/C needed to come on.

I'm terribly jealous to that you're going (happy for you, but jealous all the same)! I had been planning for our son and I to go over in November for 2 weeks. But since the whole interview has happened and we're waiting for the I-601 to be evaluated, we've decided that the trip needs to hang tight. Just in case he could be coming home at that same time, I want to have the time off of work to bring my hubby HOME!!!!!!! (L) (L) (L) (L) (L)
