They purposely leave it vague to provide whatever type and amount of proof you see fit to establish the relationship is legit. I figured the more the better. We met on a dating site and I had written a success story for the site that had details of how we met and pics of us together. I included that story and highlighted the site url and date it was published. I printed pages from both our Facebooks showing where we’d changed our statuses to “engaged”, and “married” and our friends posting Congratulations and highlighting dates and times. I printed FB posts showing pics of us together, showing where we had checked in places, showing us standing in front of landmark spots here in the U.S. and in the U.K. as proof we were in those places together. Again I made sure to highlight, dates, times, and locations. You can use flight itineraries showing dates, receipts from gifts you’ve sent each other. I bought something on Amazon so I printed the receipt showing my name/address, the item, showing his name/address as the recipient then a pic of him holding up the item. Not to be a conspiracy theorist, but remember it’s their job to look at this stuff and determine is this a legit relationship. If you were in their job, think what would it take to convince you? Good luck! 🍀

This was extremely helpful. Thank you!

Hello when you take screenshots of call/messages should phone number of spouse be visible? The only way the number is visible on whatsapp is if I take off my husband's name. If there is a phone number and no name, will embassy be ok with that? Please advise. What have others showed in their screenshots: name or number? Thanks

Hi! Personally, we never submitted our messages etc.... but there is a function in Whatsapp to export the chat to another file, it's probably quicker than screen shot. If you go on the chat, and click the name at the top its in that menu. (Not sure if anyone else mentioned it). You can email it to yourself as a text document with or without the media, and it shows the names of the people in the chat. Hope this helps.

Good Luck!

ahh everyones family & friends here. Advice is advice. We have to use our judgement after receiving advice. I'm grateful to all volunteeringly assisting us in uniting our loved ones. Some advice sounds harsh? but its useful, we have blindspots. We only see things from our angle, its wise to seek honest feedback from those who've seen hundreds/thousands of cases.

Yes quality of evidence matters. But circumstances (should) also matter. I mean like in my case i had to return to work (US) within days of marriage. I had no choice, then best thing i had is communication. The whatsapp msgs matter, because that is my only way of communication with her. What else could i have done to prove bona-fide @ managing a distance relationship, while world is locked in pandemic..

I also did some creative way to  connect dots for officers.

ie: i sent several money transfers to wife for her maintenance over the months via personal bank account. I provided payment history from money transfer site showing payments. I took screenshot of my bank statement of 2 random months and circled the amount/bank account/ and matching it to receipt of money transfer.  Note some of my whatsapp msgs contained money transfer #'s & amount which i picked, they can cross check those too. Further more i wrote, each every money receipt/bank statement can be supplied upon request.  Also took screenshots of my board  pass/ and entry/exit on one page. Letter of approval from HR for my limited vacation time approval. Any evidence that can explain WHY you had such n such circumstance will help remove any doubts or suspicion. Lets be devils advocate & think from their angle as well.  Imagine if you were Officer reviewing your case. What red-flags would come to your mind? then look see how you can mitigate those risks w/ evidence.

99% of my evidence was prior to marriage since we filed right after.

I think a lot of people have done that, but it's always good to bring more to the interview just in case, especially for some countries.

For our evidence, we submitted chat logs, photos of us together (vacation and from our marriage ceremony), evidence of gift giving (holiday cards, packages we mailed to each other), flight itineraries of when we visited each other or went to a place together, evidence of spouse being on my credit card...

We had/have numerous chat logs, so I selected one or two screenshots from each month of our relationship up until marriage (a period of about two years) to both prove that we were talking throughout that time and to give an idea of the general trajectory of our relationship. For example, I have in writing the first time we said "I love you," as well as us talking about visiting each other, though I also put in some mundane or regular conversation snippets as a way of counter-balancing. I doubt most people are consistently lovey-dovey, so only showing that aspect seemed disingenuous to me. I also included a few pages of whatsapp call logs to show that it wasn't just text chatting.

We are still waiting for our interview to be scheduled so I can't really speak with certainty, but I'd reckon that the strongest evidence of what we presented was us being together and doing life things together/showing ties to each other. The vacation/visitation pictures and itineraries, the financial ties, that sort of stuff. And while it's better to have it and not need it, I think it is possible to go overboard with chat logs. If you're anything like how spouse and I were, you'd end up killing a forest to print out them all. 😄

In our logs the numbers weren't visible in most of the correspondence we submitted, and in about half of them we were speaking using online handles (to which I put in a note defining who was who), so I really wouldn't worry about a phone number not being visible.

Good luck!

👐

Patience......patience.

Hi

Let me tell you what I did for my k1 visa. I went straight to my contact list,  under her name her number was there, I highlighted it. So for Vo( visa officer) it will be easy to who you’re referring. Rest I made a huge bundle for our chats in which her name was highlighted every time,  it took 9 months for whole visa process. Meanwhile, I took tons of screen shots for our chats, calls, call logs, pictures exchanged from each month. Screen shots converted into hard copies(print out). For each month there was approximately 10-15 pages. On the top of the page I wrote it down month which I’m referring and after that screenshots  in which I highlighted her name and date. They saw me carrying my engagement album with me. Vo straight away asked me can I see more pictures from your album. I said sure , but he gave me instructions to turn pages slowly and then, Vo pointed at a person from album pictures. Who is he or she?, what’s your relationship with with them?. Apart from screenshot I attached tons of  other proof like gift exchanged, shopping receipts copy, greeting cards. Our engagement venue bills, her engagement ring bill. When she came to India, we took so many pictures I gave those pictures as well. She gave me her tickets copy, phone bill copy which shows that she was on international roaming. Whatever we shopped when she was with me in India we gave those receipts as proof.

Personally you’ve to be over prepared in terms of proof, they can ask you anything. Your answers should be to the point. Don’t give over information they can puzzle you. They’ll check your behavior, body language, maybe they can grill you( means they can ask you back to question ,Minor things). Long story short they should be convinced by you. They should feel that everything is legit not fake, Good luck mate.

Whenever I sent screenshots, I just made sure a lot of the chat logs had numerous dates and times on them.  Also, with the face to face screen shots, I wasn't too worried if it showed date and times, but maybe just the length of the call.
