Missing vaccinations I-693

I couldn’t find the answer in any previous posts but this is our situation: My spouse did his medical 5 weeks ago and then entered the US on his approved K1 visa. Everything with the medical checked out, however due to the covid situation we were unable to get 2 vaccinations (tetanus booster and influenza) and his DS-3025 form does not have the “complete” box checked on the bottom. When we ask civil surgeons here in the US to administer the vaccines they are unwilling to fill out I-693 without doing a full new medical from start to finish which he already got 5 weeks ago. This feels like doctors trying to make extra money to us.. Are we doing something wrong? Is there a way around this or do we have to suck it up and just get a new medical done at $xxxx? Or do we just not send in the I-693 and simply send a copy of DS-3025 along with proof of the newly administered vaccinations?

Thank you

There are a number of CS out there that refuse to do transcriptions and insist that the K-1 visa holder needs a full medical.

Full medical is absolutely unnecessary in your spouse's case.

Try contacting other CS in the area and hopefully you'll find one that would do a transcription of the DS-3025 plus the 2 new shots onto the I-693.

I personally did exactly what I suggested here. Also, I felt better sending in the I-693 during my AOS to eliminate the possibility of getting a RFE asking for it.

For my I-129F, K-1, AOS, EAD, AP and ROC detailed timelines, please refer to my timeline page :)

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.

My sincerest gratitude to all VJers, especially the late geowrian.

693 is not required at time of filing, so focus on filling out the other forms and sending them out.

In the meantime, you can search the forum for a post about CS that does only the vaccination transcript.

As others have suggested, try to find a CS that will just do the transcripts. You are still going to need the missing vaccinations first. Get them completed and then call around and hopefully find one that will just transfer everything onto a I693. Normally they charge 80-100 to transfer. Better than a full medical exam that costs around 300 on average.

And yes, welcome to medical care in the US, where it is all about the money 💰! Make sure you get your spouse medical insurance ASAP, either adding him/her to your employer sponsored plan, or on his own in the marketplace.

This is exactly what we did. We called Civil Surgeons in our area until we found one who would just update the vaccine portion of the I-693 without doing a full medical. My husband, got his flu shot privately, though, which saved us even more money. We took this proof to the CS, and he filled out the form for us. We saved hundreds of dollars!

Thanks everyone... Knoxville TN only has like 5 people that can do it ... I guess we’ll keep on calling doctors outside of town and hope someone will fill out sections 5 and 7 as well as the vaccination record

I was in the same situation, every place I called said I'd need a full medical again. I ended up just making an appointment, went along with a print out of the instructions showing that I only needed the vaccination form completed - highlighting the relevant parts to make it extra easy for them to understand. The receptionist took it to the Dr and after reading the instructions he agreed to complete just the vaccine sheet after all.

So my advice would be, that even if nobody agrees to do it when you call,  if you come to the office prepared with the relevant USCIS guidance that they might change their minds. Certainly worth a try!
