One More CFO Clarification

 Share

I read the other topic and Googled a bit.  I just wanted to clarify a few things.

The CFO steps are basically:

1.  Attend seminar and get certificate.  The certificate does not expire.

2.  After visa is granted, take passport back and get Emigrant stamp.

I didn't realize #2 existed until tonight.  My wife took the seminar a few years ago because if you want to change your passport to your married name, you have to take it.  When they found out she had been married a few years, had kids and we were living in the Philippines, they did not make her sit in the seminar.  She just paid and they gave her the certificate.

So now, after she gets the visa in her passport, she needs to go back and get the Emigrant stamp.  BTW, we did this in Clark.

What about my then to be 17 year old stepdaughter?  Will she be required to have the seminar and get the stamp?  Need to make sure that is sorted as she will still be 17 when plan to fly in June 2022, but turns 18 in early July 2022.

All exiting emigrates are required to attend CFO.    Depending on age.   Your step-daughter would attend peer counseling after she has visa in hand  (however they are handling this right now) then will receive the sticker in the passport.

All other immigrant visas must attend PDOS.  This included IR/CR-2 and K-2.

Must have Visa In Hand before scheduling the seminar or to register to get the sticker.

CFO-PDOS:  http://cfo.gov.ph/filipinos-leaving-the-country-with-immigrant-visa/

Adults:  Those 60 and above need only register to get the sticker.

Derivatives:  C
hildren above 12 years of age must attend PDOS, those younger only need to be registered to get the sticker.

Ages 13-19 will attend PDOS Peer Consoling.

I was reading that same link you posted, when you posted!  I should have read it before but the question about my stepdaughter popped into my head while typing the first part.

What a pain!  Peer Counseling, what the heck is that as it relates to emigrating?  Is she going to sit with other teenagers and have a chat?  And they don't have it anywhere except Manila!  I hate going to Manila!

This must have changed. My wife updated her PH passport in Dec 2019 from her maiden name to her married name and did not have to go through CFO.

Unless it has changed recently, the CFO is still closed and so all one needs to leave the airport is to print out the emailed certificate from CFO. Your case may be different because the certificate is from before the lockdown. You may need to get the CFO to email you a new certificate.

Thanks, will keep that in mind.  If all goes as planned, we won't be getting the visas until 2022, and hopefully things will be normalized.

If and when things get back to normal, you used to be able to get the CFO sticker at Manila airport.

Or another office. My wife did CFO in Cebu and picked up her sticker at the Manila office. They even gave her a free gift as it was International Women's Day) IF things ever return to normal.

Finally done...

I am really shocked you can't get those stickers on the street or in china town in Manila

Hmmm.....

My wife did it before that.  I think it was DFA in Pampanga that told she had to have it.
