Hello everyone! So my fiancé just got the notification from the NVC that they are sending our packet to the US consulate. I’m just wondering what is the next step should we take?

Also, i just moved recently and i’m not able to change my address because i’m not so sure how to. Is it going to be a problem??

TIA!!

It shouldn't be. If you're the petitioner, the petition has been approved so they won't be contacting you again.

If you're the beneficiary, I don't know about South Korea, but most  embassies and consulates communicate with the beneficiary via email, and don't send anything physical until they send your passport back with your visa in it. So make sure the address is correct on the DS-160 and any other paperwork and you're good there.

The SK embassy website has the instructions for the interview and all the documents needed. They also talk about address changes. Here is what they have to say from the P3 letter. If your petitioner is moving, they need to update their address with USCIS. google "address change USCIS" and you will find the instructions.

YOU MUST INTERVIEW BEFORE YOUR PETITION EXPIRES. YOUR PETITION IS VALID FOR A PERIOD OF FOUR MONTHS FROM THE DATE OF APPROVAL. REPORT ANY CHANGE IN YOUR ADDRESS PROMPTLY TO US BY CONTACTING THE CALL CENTER. DO NOT MAKE ARRANGEMENTS TO DEPART KOREA, DISPOSE OF YOUR PROPERTY, GIVE UP YOUR JOB OR SELL YOUR BUSINESS UNTIL AFTER YOU RECEIVE A VISA.

USC petitioner only needs to update there address with the USCIS if they have an active case or i864.  Since the petition has been approved and nothing else active, nothing to do.

YMMV

Those are instructions from the P3 letter from the OP's embassy. That's their instructions not mine.

That's why you don't follow instructions on a DOS website for USCIS procedures,  and vice versa.  They are often wrong.

Helllo, I am going to apply for k1 visa. I need some tips from expert. Please anyone can give me suggestion, which types of things i should remember before applying for k1 visa?

First become familiar with the guides. Use the guides from the blue ribbon. Go to the blue ribbon above, select "guides" then "immigration guides" scroll down and select the K-1.  Select "guides if you are engaged": and select ----- K1 Fiancé Visa Guide.

Second, read over the I-129f, Petition for Alien Fiancé(e) instructions before beginning to fill the document. It will make more sense. Don't guess what they are looking for take the question literally and answer.

Third, spend time in other threads and read what others have experienced. You may want to look at 2019 K-1 filers threads. You'll see one for each month. 2020 has been the year of coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and things are entirely different that is why I recommend the 2019 threads.

Fourth, we need a little housekeeping on your end. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine their Embassy. The country that should be used is the country where the interview will take place.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Country and Visa Type: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1RyJiLo_7WTmqvkzXXqLuOlVHm9oyhAES/view?usp=sharing

Once you finish that then return and you will see a flag in your profile. Select it and see what wonderful information will open up for you.

Thanks

Good luck and stay engaged in the process.

Hello everyone~

NVC just messaged my fiancé saying that they sent our packet to the consulate. How long does it usually takes for the consulate to get the packet and what is the next step we should take?

Thank you!!

It means that a case number was assigned to your application from NVC and that they have on the request of SK embassy sent your record to them. The status change to "ready" condition because your record is ready for the next steps in the interview process. Here some links and information for you to determine your next steps. One of the best links is your regional/country sub-forum which is one of the links below. Have you not considered visiting your embassy's website to answer that question?

P3 letter is found on the embassy website
