Yes, we got an RFE from them so they definitely would. I think it is just that extraordinary times require an extraordinary amount of patience...

Long form birth certificate was issued more than a year after birth, so they wanted more evidence of family relationship (kind of annoying seeing as the same BC had been perfectly fine for my daughter to get her GC as my derivative)

Good to know because I may have the same issue with my daughter, but for me I submitted only a copy of her birth certificate, they may ask for original copy

They definitely want the originals of everything.

Want to give you an update regarding my status. 

I ended up turning to a Congressman, and as soon as his office reached out to the passport agent my son's passport was issued. 

I am really glad that I can end this long journey.
