Tucker Carlson: Why is Eric Swalwell still on House Intel Committee after Chinese spy revelations?

 

At every turn, Swalwell has remained a reliable source of Chinese government propaganda. As a member of the House Intelligence Committee, he's styled himself as an expert at spotting foreign interference in our government. You may remember he spent years accusing President Trump of working for a hostile power. The irony is overwhelming.

 

It's always those who have the most to hide who attack other people for the very things they've done. Two years ago, we asked Swalwell to come on this show and reveal the evidence he claimed to have collected on Russian collusion. Swalwell came, because he couldn't turn down a TV opportunity. He made loud noises and he left. He had no evidence, but he didn't stop making allegations.

 

Do you notice a pattern here? Of course you do, and here's the amazing thing: At this very moment, Eric Swalwell -- who has used his office to promote Beijing's talking points almost word-for-word; a man who admits to a close personal relationship with an actual Chinese spy who helped him get elected to Congress, raised money for him and put an intern (probably another spy) in his office -- continues to serve on the House Intelligence Committee, where he has unrestricted access to classified information.

Oddest of all in this fixation on Russia, there was a real, far more dangerous collusion that was burrowed deep within the U.S. administrative state, the Democratic Party, corporate boardrooms, Big Tech, professional sports and entertainment, and the media.

If, save for its rusting nuclear arsenal, Russia was shrinking, poor, and spent, not so was China. It was rich, huge, and ruthlessly hellbent on global hegemony—if not by bribery and corruption, then by naked commercial and military force.

If there is a NATO along a much weaker Russia’s borders, until Trump there was nothing much to protect Australia, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan from China.

Russia Today is a clumsy Cold War holdover propaganda outlet. But the Chinese dissemination Borg is huge. It is sophisticated and it is subtle. Beijing, far better than Russia, understands how to unravel a new America, unhinged and obsessed with race, victimization, and “privilege.”

Hollywood has had a field day with casting big-screen, shaved-headed, Orthodox tattooed, Russian mafia killers and brutes as the evil enemies of all noble minority and feminist film heroes. Yet at the same time, progressive studio heads and producers were reassuring the 1.4 billion people in the Chinese market that they would cull darker-skinned minority American actors so as not to offend the innate racism of the Chinese movie-goer. No one said a word about the paradox.

People easily tipped over by social pressures of conformity are going to have their own little introspective reckoning when they figure out their contributions to its unraveling of western society. Many of us, particularly with solidified liberal values, knew it was an awful idea to capitulate to outrage authoritarianism, but if the Milgram and litany of other psychological experiments taught us anything it's people can be trained to say+believe the sky is upside down if enough peers (especially in an appeal to authority fashion) tell them to believe so. People can psychologically feel these strong influences and that's why they play along, it's much easier to ride with the waves than to stand your ground against them when necessary. The latter often wind up targets of those with power.

A suspected Chinese spy whose goal was to get close to up-and-coming U.S. politicians is no longer Facebook friends with Rep. Eric Swalwell’s father and brother -- or a handful of other people following revelations that their accounts remained connected.

Earlier Wednesday they were still friended -- years after the FBI flagged her for suspicious activities and the congressman cut her off. Later in the day, following reporting on the connections, their accounts no longer appeared on her friends list.

Eric Swalwell and the spy: A lesson in how China is undermining us

 

Ambitious, inexperienced, attention-seeking politicians are like marks for mafia loan sharks. At some point a payment has to be made and the interest on the loan is ugly. Eric Swalwell had an ugly payment week. His carelessness with a Chinese intelligence operative looks far more substantive than the Russia collusion unicorn he so publicly insisted was real. Now he has to pay nasty interest on his glaringly public hypocrisy. If you’re going to draw attention to yourself, check what’s in your own leaky backpack first. 

Rep. Swalwell has become a fascinating case study. Set aside the hypocritical folly of a mostly inexperienced congressman — even though it’s wicked good clickbait — because there’s far more at play here to which we as a free nation need to pay attention.  

Many on the political right would like a deeper investigation of Rep. Swalwell, and maybe even criminal charges. Even in the unlikely event such could be done, it would be a pyrrhic gesture that would detract from a very real and much larger threat. Swalwell was and still is a legitimate target of Chinese intelligence. But he is most probably not a spy. And he is not the only U.S. politician being targeted by the Chinese government, not by a long shot.

So just in CA, we have Boxer, Feinstein and Swalwell with strong ties to China and CCP spies.  Seems like a trend.  Of course the Biden's were/are also in bed with them.
