what happens now? moved to USA 2 weeks ago on IR1

hi everyone

 

 

I finally moved to the USA about 2 weeks ago now (been here since November 22) on my IR1 visa.

Im not exactly sure what happens now, do I wait for something in the mail? (if so I havent got anything yet) Do I need to fill out any forms or do anything?......When I had my interview I wasnt told anything or given anything telling me what to do once I got here, nor did the border patrol who took me into secondary custody at the airport when I flew here

 

 

If anyone can let me know what the next steps are for a IR1 visa is after coming to the USA would be appreciated thank you

Your Green Card will be mailed to you automatically within the next few months.  If you marked the box to receive a SSN, then the Social Security card will be mailed to you also.

 

Now, you can relax for a few years....until you decide to apply for citizenship.

If you paid the fee for processing green card,  it will arrive to the address given

if you marked the box on DS 260 for USCIS to do the SS card,  that will also come to address given 

IF not,  you need to take passport with IR1 stamp to SS office for that number /  call to see if they are open or how processing if not open

 

you can apply for learner's permit to drive or a state ID with the IR1 stamp on passport

you can look for work

you can take classes in tech or college

you can volunteer and meet people
