Hello I am petitioner for my husband we are waiting for interview at US embassy in Islamabad for CR1 visa. Our joint sponsor did not have high enough income for 2019 but we still got DQ on May 29. However, the joint sponsor has higher income for 2020. Should we upload a new updated affidavit of support on NVC before the interview? We think this will help his visa to get approved and avoid a long AP. Has anyone else had this experience? Please kindly advise. Thank you.

Financial support is not the main reason for AP, sponsor can be millionaire, you are still in AP.

Bring an updated I-864 to your interview. Good luck.

i don't think there is any way to avoid a long AP for your embassy

that is,  never read a site on here that showed a visa issued without one

but it does help the VJ community track and do stats on  the process to help all if you do a timeline

and it is getting close to 2020 tax season so be prepared to do the IRS returns ASAP (usually February for most of us when we have all that supporting documents)  and get them ready for the next step after a long AP  ( could mean new medical,  follow up interview,  new I 864 and I864 a for joint sponsor and IRS  tax returns for 2020 for both)

Good idea to upload updated AOS as soon as the 2020 return is filed.  However, note that "current income" is king here, and for the employed, that comes from a current pay stub, not a tax return.  2020 income and current income may or may not be the same.  Usually not.

So when he goes for the interview he should take new AOS,  tax transcript, tax returns and current paystub of joint sponsor?
