I am self employed in private practice currently.

Then you can wait until you file your 2020 tax return to complete and submit your affidavit of support, or get a qualified joint sponsor.  The newly self employed have zero current income until it appears on the total income line of a US Federal tax return.  Note that total income and total business revenue are not the same thing.  Depending on circumstances your first year in private practice may show a negative total income number.  Consult a tax professional.

Thank you so much. I had to read the email 10 times to make sure what I was reading is quick. Such a blessing for us as we have been doing this long distance for 7 years. Thank you once again. Couldn’t of done it without all the great advice from this forum. I was so close of paying 5k (which I didn’t have) to a lawyer

Thank you. I will get one of my parents for a qualified joint sponsor. Does that have any effect of the visa approval at all?

Yes. We got the approval email. It was the best news we received in 2020. Thank you so much. Now awaiting nvc info.

Everything impacts everything but having a joint sponsor is not a problem.  Note that if your parents are married to each other, or to somebody new, One party in the married couple is the joint sponsor, and the other completes and signs the I-864a as a household member.

Ah gotcha I did not know that. My parents are married. So my mom would be the joint sponsor and my dad would sign the I-864a correct? thnks again. I know its early and I can't complete anything yet.. but nice to be prepared.

Yes it was quick and my wife and I spent 1-2 weeks working 3-4 hours a day on our petition and relationship proof. We were a bit over the top. But it paid off. Now the wait for NOA2 in the mail and then notification from NVC
