Hello everyone. I would appreciate your help, ideas, and if you have supplemented website links, where I could read and check everything myself.

I am a Ukrainian citizen and all of my documets are in whether Russian or Ukrainian. My husband is an American citizen applying for CR1 Visa.

On the US Embassy's (in Ukraine) website there is a list of documents which I need to prepare before we apply.

And here I am confused. In the US Embassy in Ukraine website there is information that all not english documents must be translated into English.

But on the Travel.State.Gov website, they say that Any documents that are not in either English, Ukrainian, or Russian must be accompanying by a certified English translation.

Meaning that I dont need English translation of my documents.  https://travel.state.gov/content/travel.html

Being really confused, could you help me to get the correct information. Do I need to translate all documents which is not in English?

Thank you all for your help.

Best wishes,

Iryna

When submitting to Kyiv, any document NOT in English,  Russian or Ukrainian requires translation.

When submitting to the USCIS, any non English document requires translation.

YMMV

Thank you! One more question. Should the translated documents be notarized or translation is enough?

Attestation is needed which is different than notarization

Please note that all documents not written in English, or in the official language of the country from which you are applying, must be accompanied by certified translations. The translation must include a statement signed by the translator stating that:

  • The translation is accurate, and
  • The translator is competent to translate.

Thank you very much! I really appreciate the help you all provide.

So, translation is enough, and notarization is not needed, right?

Because I also heard alot about that all document should be notarized.

Thank you in advace.

Means that the translated document should be translated my attestated enterpreter? And totarization mean make it legal? Am I correct?

Thank you!

Attestation by translator is all thatis needed.  From the U S perspective,  notarization doesn't make a document legal so that is why it isn't required

YMMV

Notarization is only proof that ID was presented to show the person is who they say they are

and not that the document is correct ,  so no notarization
