True, they can do as they like and we only know only a few facets of their story. If the husband and his family can provide her a good life in Pakistan, why not go for it?

I just found it strange that the OP would consider cleaning or shop jobs in Pakistan.

But then, all of this discussion is straying from her original question about the immigration process. Hopefully things work out for them, whatever they decide, and they are able to build solid evidence of a genuine marrriage.

Yes it did stray from my question. I want to say thank you to everyone that gave advice as well. Now I understand why his passport was sent back to him and case sent back to nvc

That is the letter he got

275EB199-7C2F-4544-AFC3-CACA8648502F.jpeg

Where does the letter say the case is being sent back?   It looks like Administrative Processing.......and nothing else.  This is completely different from a case being returned to USCIS.  This letter is not uncommon for Pakistani cases.  You just have to wait until AP is finished.  It could be weeks or months.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

It seems weird that the letter only says that the case is in AP.  Hopefully, more info is coming.

The embassy in pakistan and yes its a 20 year age difference and only 5 days spent together. Why would they send the passport back to him tho?

You need to find a sponsor as soon as possible, age is a huge red flag, but, legally they can't discriminate because of age.

They will look hard for other things to use against you.  Five days together, huge red flag.  You have a lot of work ahead of you.  You need to visit him often and I know money is tight everywhere.

Question, did you meet in person be for you married him and stayed five days.  If so how long did you stay?

How long have you known him?  Do you have pictures with his family besides them not being in the wedding pictures?  Not having them in the pictures is a huge mistake.

He should feel blessed they sent his passport back!  They kept my husbands, said it was lost.  Second interview they handed his passport back mutilated, it was stapled in so many places my husband had to pay for a new one.

With much respect, there is no meanness in what I'm going to say.  The future for you will be an uphill hard battle full of stress.  Money will fly out the window and you will most likely need a lawyer which will be a minimum of $5,000.00, minimum.  Are you confident, he's worth it, that he feels the same way you do?  I ask you this because I know several women from VJ married to Pakistani men, that once they arrived it was a living hell.   Please take some time to think this through.  If you decide it's worth the struggle and stressful work ahead then, I'm here for you if you need me, to talk and hold your hand.  I can also give you information on a great lawyer and his firm I used.  Please think seriously about this.  Please PM me if you like.  💓

I hope they USCIS n NVC team are aware of these cultural norms of diff countries before judging based on american view of life where people date for yrs and then decide to commit.

Oh no, you are wrong man. Of course they do know about differences. And haven't you heard that in US people take short vacation trips to Vegas and suddenly come back married? Don't fall for that "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas"...
