Hello All!!

I am a US citizen and my husband a green card holder. My husband’s child is in Dominican Republic and we will petition her but later in 2021. In the meantime we would like her to come visit. Her birth mom told us today that she read a child of a green card holder or citizen doesn’t qualify for a visitors visa.

I would love for any of you to shed some light on this topic.

thank you!!!

That's a completely incorrect (almost ludicrous) thing to say because US citizens and green card holders have foreign family members who successfully obtain visitor visas to come over temporarily. There is no such legal requirement.

It’s not true that she “doesn’t qualify”, however it does usually make it harder to get a visa because it is more difficult to overcome the assumption of immigrant intent for such cases.
