Chanel - You’re also an Oregonian?  Our senators are Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden.  You do not need to be a registered voter in order to contact them. In fact, you can simply say you are an Oregonian.

I contacted Oregon Senator Jeff Merkley and got a rapid response from his staff member for constituent issues.  I just wrote her again yesterday on this very question (AFP denials) after reading the Visa Journey latest posts.  You may also need to go online to his website to fill out a form.  Good luck!

That there are two Oregonians facing this SAME concern (NVC and AFP denials), it may even get more attention! Maybe.

Here’s the Email address to use and I suggest you create an attention getting subject line:

Whitney_NavarroCastillo@merkley.senate.gov

Hi Janna, yep Oregon is where I lived last in the US and where we are headed back to. Thank you so much for this! I didn't know that I don't need to be a registered voter and so this is super helpful. I will use that same email address so that it goes to the same person and they see there are two people with the same issue.

Great!  Curious if you’re applying for fiancé visa or already married?  We’ve been wed over two years so ours is a IR1. Have you completed the I-130 and now working on DS-260 like us?

We are married and doing CR1, hopefully this doesn't turn into an IR1 by the time it's done 🙄

We got NOA2 on 09-13-2022 and I'm waiting for the email from NVC, so I haven't done DS-260 yet or even logged in. Currently struggling with getting all our documents down to 2MB. What an annoying requirement.

Oh, got it.  You’re busy now getting everything in order so you’re all set to upload as soon as NVC contacts you.  We’re well beyond that and considerably slowed down by pandemic issues, misc bureaucracy and then NVC rejecting husband’s AFP because it was the wrong Inquiry code selection.  That put our case back into the pile again for another … 70+ days?  No idea, really.

Good luck.  Hope you lovebirds are both together!  We’re not.  I returned to OR and hoped time gap would be short.  Fingers crossed!!

Best wishes for smooth and speedy processing!

Thank you so much for the kind words! Keep us updated how you go and I'll let you know how we go with NVC and the AFP check.

@mekbus what did you submit for your NZ police check? Just had mine rejected again, we uploaded the request form, and acknowledgement email from NZ vetting.

Got this response from NVC today "Please submit a police certificate for JED from NEW ZEALAND"

I am now at a complete loss on what to do

We submitted a letter with the following information:

New Zealand does not issue police certificates directly to the applicants. They send the police record straight to the US consulate General in Auckland, as seen at

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/NewZealand.html

We copied and pasted a screen shot of that link into the letter.

We attached our email to the NZ police concerning our submitted Section 14 form, asking for confirmation when it was completed. We attached a copy of our submitted Section 14 form. This was accepted with no issues.

We were thinking we'd have an RFE on this, because so many people seem to, but got lucky with it

Oh my goodness!  I don’t blame you for your frustration!  Totally maddening!!

Tell me your Email address and I’ll share with you what I can.  Make the subject line about this topic so I know it’s not spam.

Meantime, we received the AFP document generated using reason code #33.  The top lines read as follows:

IMMIGRATION/CITIZENSHIP - AUSTRALIA

Name Check Only

This is to certify there are no disclosable court outcomes against the name of…

NAME born on DATE

Contact your US Senator’s constituent services staffer ASAP.  They’re about the only ones who can call NVC directly and talk to a human being there on your behalf.  One of my US senator’s here in Oregon has been very helpful in this way.

Best wishes!

Cannot share Emails!  Unsafe, of course.  That makes sense!!

The words I sent from our own AFP #33 document are correct.  That’s all you need.  Compare those words with your AFP document.  If it reads the same exactly, then you do have the correct AFP.

Contact the US Senator from your/your spouse’s own home state.  Look the name and information up online.

That’s all I can suggest.  Good luck.

FYI … on Sept 19, we were DQd by NVC and they accepted AFP check reason code 33!

YAY!!! I am super happy for you, I hope you two get your interview soon! That's ridiculous you had to go through the senators over this document and thankfully that's all over for you. We are submitting our documents on Monday and I am hoping that things are sorted at NVC with the AFP certificates.
