Tax the Rich Sweatshirt

All for a very reasonable $58, obviously targeted at those of modest means.

Plus tax

And shipping

Okay, so the purchase is a campaign contribution. And AOC knows what her supporters like, so she's giving them what appeals to them in exchange for a contribution. Campaigns run on money, even for democratic socialists. Thank Citizens United for that one.

So it says more about who she thinks her supporters are and how much they will pay for a sweatshirt. Urban hipsters?

They're union made in America. Rightly or wrongly, American goods cost more. We try to buy American whenever we can. I know we're not perfect about it -- sometimes there's no American product that fits the bill -- but we do try. I like knowing I'm supporting my community by supporting living wages.

As you pointed out, it's also supporting her campaign.

On a cost basis, Girl Scout cookies are terrible value. People buy them because there is some value in the actual product, but mostly to support Girl Scouts. People who are shopping for sweatshirts don't go to AOC's website, people who are looking to support her do.

Not that any of this actually needs to be explained. He knows. Everyone knows. But it's AOC, so she must be attacked on the most miniscule of things, even if their candidates do the exact same thing.

if someone buys one of those, they'd probably qualify as rich.  who spends that much on a stupid shirt?
and what's with the drink water and don't be racist sticker?   is not drinking water somehow racist?

This is the context. Another time she was mocked for wearing clothing she didn't own.

No, I think the actions are independent of each other. Like, (1) don't be racist, and (2) drink water. Both are good things to do (presuming the water is clean). But drinking beer is also good. :)

Have you bought your spouse a really nice shirt lately? I mean I'm often surprised at the prices of things these days but political items are usually marked up heavily because you're making a 'donation' even though they are cheap and pointless.

I mean this simple cotton hoodie with a Gucci logo will set you back $1900. https://www.gucci.com/us/en/pr/women/ready-to-wear-for-women/sweatshirts-for-women/sweatshirt-with-sequin-gucci-logo-p-469251XJASC9480
