Hey Y'all,

I'm sure this has been asked ALOT! Either way I'm going to ask because I'm having troubles doing a expedite request for my K1 visa. My first question is at what point do I request an expedite request, after NOA1 to USCIS or after NVC? The second question is when I call USCIS Military help line I can't speak to an actual person. Does anyone know how to talk to an agent? I'm in the military and trying to expedite my petition due to my current job location.

Thank You,

Wyatt

You're at USCIS so that is where you will make your contact with your inquiry.  Have you tried:

USCIS has established a toll-free military help line exclusively for members of the military and their families. USCIS customer service specialists are available to answer calls Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. (CST), excluding federal holidays. After-hours callers receive an email address that they can use to contact USCIS for assistance.

•Military Help Line: 1-877-CIS-4MIL (1-877-247-4645)

Thank you for your service. Navy Vet here.

I have called this number. Every time I call I always get the automated machine and it won’t forward me to an agent. I even tried the non military line. I’ve called more than ten times during their open hours. I even emailed the military assistance email and they emailed back saying I emailed the wrong people. Gave instructions to call the military help line but it doesn’t seem to work at all.

Try sending an inquiry through "ask USCIS" and see if that works.

There are a couple of things you can do and here is my list.

  1. You can file a case out of status with USCIS https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do
  2. You email the ombudsman (cisombudsman.publicaffairs@hq.dhs.gov) and they will auto-reply with a link to a form to file a follow-up. The ombudsman is an independent contractor not affiliated with USCIS and when they make an inquiry on your behalf USCIS will respond.
  3. Send a letter with all the details of your case to your U.S. representative's contact information can be found in this handy directory, and your U.S. senator's information is in this one.
  4. You can sue USCIS to make a decision on your case if it has gone too long. This is not recommended as it typically ends with a denial. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1a-FPirWXg2jSXHKXE_jocaOQuNMfib_4/view?usp=sharing
  5. Here are the cases that have been in adjudication for a very long time. Cases delayed no seem to be a walk in the park in comparison.

It's impossible to understand the process because there are so many influences acting on your case and at different times, and that information you don't have access to. This is a good time to get a hobby because this is how it works for every step of the way.

The waiting doesn't stop there. Next you'll wait for your interview, after that you'll wait for the visa, after that wait for her/him to arrive in states, after that wait for SSN to arrive, after that wait to get married, after that wait for the marriage certificate, after that wait for the Green Card, after that... Do you see a pattern here yet??  It's all about waiting. The sooner we understand that the easier the journey.

@Greenbaum, no truer words were spoken when it comes to this process.

There is a way I was able to get in contact with a real representative and not a robot. If you ask to check case status and say " i no longer have access to my receipt number", and the system will direct you to a representative. It has worked twice for me, but it took a couple tries to get it to register. Either way it is worth a shot. Hope this can help you out if you still need it.
