For context, my fiancé from Indonesia requires a police certificate from the Turkish embassy in Indonesia. We have been trying to communicate with the embassy there, but there have been a lot of unknown back and forth.

My fiancé physically flew to Jakarta to obtain the certificate. When we got there, we were told that there were communication failures from the Turkish government that prevented us from getting it at the moment. My fiancé was there for a week, and so she went on three separate occasions, but all were in vain.

The next time we fly over will likely be for the visa interview, and we don't want to be in a position where we cannot obtain the police certificate for reasons that are outside of our control and the only context we get back are vague, unambiguous errors and no safety net or reassurance.

Has anyone else gone through similar experiences? What would be the response from the visa interview or US Embassy in Jakarta if this happens and we are unable to provide these documents?

If your fiancee attends the interview without a required document, she will likely be given a 221g letter asking for the missing document.

Was her police certificate not available through the Turkey e-government site?  https://www.turkiye.gov.tr/hizmetler

Unfortunately, no.

We've been getting mixed, inconsistent, and sometimes contradicting feedback. They've asked to come in person to arrange and interview and said it may take some time, so I guess we'll go with that and hope for the best.
