  • 5 months later...

My father sends money over Xoom (PayPal).

He has receipts online and they look like these:
a.jpgb.jpg

Question 1: Do I just have to screenshot these and print them out?
Question 2: How far do I have to go? A year or two worth of receipts?

This is the only evidence that I have to proof the bona fide relationship between myself and my father.

Hello,

How about your dad adding emails to you? screen shot of fb messnger messages, any photos? plus the above that will show both your names. Best of luck, NG

Hi Kababayan, sadly we don't have any recent photos together because he's always abroad.

Also, I'm a child born out of wedlock, so my dad's name is not on my birth certificate (mom and dad never married).

The pictures above do have my name and my father's. So, there's that. And, I also have conversations with my dad on Facebook, however those messages were rather short because we never really talked much.

I am certainly no expert in this area, but I don't see how sending money, in itself, demonstrates a parent-child relationship.

I read somewhere on USCIS's website that says if a child is born out of wedlock, financial evidence can be submitted instead.

Of course, financial evidence alone is not the strongest proof there is, but it's one of the things I can send.

You stated that it is the ONLY evidence you have.

The strongest evidence I guess? The other one is my conversation with my dad on Facebook, but then again those messages were short - so I don't really think that I should send those - but I'm not really sure.

Good luck.  I wish you a very smooth journey.

Best evidence of parent / child would be DNA

and if you haven't already thought about this or prepared to do this,  i would suggest you do

as even when couple is married ,  often immigration wants DNA to prove the relationship

Thank you for your response. Of course, if I absolutely have to, I would get my DNA tested.
But, I think I read somewhere that we can't initiate the DNA process on our own without USCIS' or NVC asking us first.
