Not to be rude, but I clearly stated spouse. We are going to marry before getting to the US since that seems the best option (spousal visa). Not boyfriend. Nobody thinks that boyfriend are entitled to "boyfriend visas"--that sounds ridiculous. I'm sure your answer still stands, though.

There is no visa which allows either a boyfriend or a spouse to stay in the US while awaiting a visa.  So yes the answer of the previous poster stands, he can visit but not just stay.
