I'm the January filer but wanted to let the LIN filers know that I surprisingly got approved in 5 months yesterday. Hope the change is coming for all the rest of LIN filers!

It is clear that not all processing centers are the same.

While SRC and LIN are moving fast, NBC is moving slower.

Question:

I got notice to appear for biometrics, but online at the case status website, it says that fingerprints on file have been applied.

What does this mean?

Okay I’m getting a little worried. People have been getting approvals lately and mine is still fingerprints waived status. Is anyone having the same issue? I live in California.

I spoke to a friend who is knowledge about this and told me that in many centers now, due to decreasing COVID cases, they are returning to the routine process where the applicants are being called for fingerprinting even if they were waived earlier.

Go figure!

I don't think you should worry.

It is clear from varied experiences that there is big difference in processing of cases at all different centers.

I know a couple people that are knowledgeable with the process as well, but I would still call and confirm. If they don't have access to your case, I wouldn't take their word for anything. Many times contradictive things are sent, and only calling will give you the right answer.

I am just one that hates wasting my time and money most of all. So if it was me, I would be really pissed to show up and them tell me that my biometrics were waived.. But again, that's just me. My biometrics place is about an hour away....on a good day.

It can take over 1 year (sometimes 2 years) to get approvals. As much as it sucks seeing ppl post their great news, it is what it is. I personally am shocked to see approvals so soon, when they say it can be many many months.

I'm moving in 1 week from NJ to WA.

I have received my 18month extension letter on 2/2/2021.

My processing center is EAC (slow).

I received my latest updated waiving fingerprints on 2/16.

My questions are:

  • I assume I have to submit a change of address to USCIS (and not just rely on USPS mail forwarding).
  • Does anyone know how this will affect my processing?
  • Will they keep at the same center or change?

@CouverNYC

  • you are required submit your AR-11 (Change of address) no earlier than 30 days before your move and up to 10 days after you move. You can do it online, by the way. If your I-864 sponsor is your spouse and they're moving with you, they would need to submit the I-865.
  • There is no way to know how moving will affect your processing.
  • The will likely relocate your file from EAC to WAC. Right now WAC = 16.5 to 24 months and EAC = 8.5 to 17 months. It looks like you would go from a faster to a slower processing center if they relocate your I-751.

I-751 Joint Filing.

06-15-2021 - Case was updated to show fingerprints were taken.

05-26-2021 - Received NOA/extension letter. Notice date and postmarked 05-20-2021.

05-23-2021 - Received text message with Receipt #. YSC Potomac Center.

05-21-2021 - Checks cashed (processing on joint checking account)

05-07-2021 - I-751 received in Arizona.

Marriage-based AOS - Concurrent filing.

05-07-2019 - AOS Approved. Resident since date 05/07/2019.

05-06-2019 - AOS Interview

04-23-2018 - "Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview"

03-16-2018 - Priority Date.

Thanks. If this ends up taking longer than the 18month extension letter, what happens next?

@CouverNYC, you would then call USCIS and request an infopass appointment at your local office to get the I-551 stamp. Typically, they keep your expired green card if they give you the I-551 stamp. There is no limit to how many times you can get the stamp. USCIS prefers that you request the appointment 30 days before your green card expires.
