Hi guys. I literally called my bank yesterday and they told me my check hasn’t been cashed. This morning I opened my informed delivery and behold, I saw a letter from USCIS. Could this be my NOA1 or what? I’m very scared/ excited  as well 😆.

NB. My package was received on 12/5/20, Phoenix, AZ.

Here's a quick update to my own question... I called USCIS at 1-800-375-5283. Initially, I said 'no receipt number' and then the system asked follow-up question so I said 'technical problem' and was redirected to an agent. Had to wait 3 minutes which didn't matter because I spoke to a human agent as I wanted to.  Agent Johnny had to verify my details such as:

  1. A-number
  2. first name, last name
  3. date of birth
  4. address

Upon verification, I just told him I sent in I-751 paperwork in December 2020, check was cashed on January 15, 2021 and that I haven't received my NOA. He confirmed that my check was indeed cashed on January 15, 2021 and the receipt was sent out on the same day (haha I am sure it has not left the building yet because nothing showed up on my USPS Informed Delivery account).

He gave me the receipt number, I repeated it back, thanked him and was going to hang up. He then said he needed to log the call so he asked for my phone number and also asked if I would like to provide my e-mail address. Gave both things to him and said our goodbyes.

So yes fellow filers, if your check has been cashed and you want your receipt number before receiving your paper NOA, just call and ask for it 😉

Another update... My Informed Delivery just showed that there's an envelope from USCIS today, January 22, 2021. Probably the original NOA that was supposedly mailed out on January 15, 2021 😄

For my I-129F, K-1, AOS, EAD, AP and ROC detailed timelines, please refer to my timeline page :)

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.

My sincerest gratitude to all VJers, especially the late geowrian.

I wonder if a few days pass until they can see a cashed check? My husband went to check yesterday and they said the check wasn’t cashed.  I filled out something on the USCIS site about lost mail using my old receipt number from green card (before I remembered visa journey, I didn’t realize they were slow, thought maybe it got lost in mail) and they responded today saying they sent something for my I751 Jan 19 (but as of 21st, check still showed not cashed).

I actually called the bank today again and they told me the check was cashed on the 20th. I was kinda surprised because I spoke with one of the supervisors yesterday and it was still pending. Like you said, it’s taking some days for them to see a cashed check.

Congrats. Not sure how updated USCIS website is,

https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/

Based on above, Nebraska is 14-28months. They gave such a wide estimate range😔

By the time we get ROC approved, we will probably already applied citizenship at that point. Process moves speed of the smell!

What happens when the GC expires ???

As mentioned by LuckyCat,

expiration of GC does not mean you are "undocumented" or "illegal".

Your legal status is still valid in the USA.

With the expired GC - you cannot travel outside the USA as re-entry won't be permitted.

If you need to travel - you must get I-551 stamped

Please see the quoted post :)

Hi,

We are planning to send our I-751 package the 1st week of Feb.

how important is to have the Sworn Affidavit letter from friends???  We have everything except the letters.

Thanks,

It is always better to have as much submitted as recommended in the instructions.

Sworn affidavit is one of them - they specifically list two. As you know, it serves to affirm that your marriage is genuine.

Thanks,

I personally didn’t include any affidavits.  I had lots of other stuff. I’m not worried one bit.  No one can really know how important they are though, unless you’re an officer!
